Welcome to the 2015 Alabama football season. There is nothing more magical than Bryant-Denny Stadium in the fall with the Million Dollar Band, the Crimsonettes, the cheerleaders, and Big Al orchestrating the excitement and pageantry. The University of Alabama is enjoying an amazing run of success in all sports due to the dedication of our players, coaches, staff, and, of course, our devoted fans. Coach Nick Saban has led Alabama back to the top of the collegiate football mountain, winning three BCS national championships in the last six years and this past year competing in the fi rst ever College Football Playoff. We are proud of our entire athletic program as our coaches and students have won nine national championships in fi ve different sports since 2008. Coach Jay Seawell (Men’s Golf) and Coach Sarah Patterson (Retired, Women’s Gymnastics) each won two national championships during that period, and Coach Pat Murphy (Softball) and Coach Mic Potter (Women’s Golf) each won one. And, our coaches and students have won 20 SEC Championships in seven sports during this time. The academic honors earned by our students exceeds their athletic accomplishments as, since 2000, Alabama ranks fi rst in the SEC with 103 and third nationally in the total number of academic All-Americans for FBS universities. The cumulative grade-point average for all Alabama student-athletes this past year was 3.031. We hope this Fan Guide adds to your enjoyment of this season. It contains answers to many questions regarding stadium policies, game day activities, traffi c, parking, and the like. As the season approaches, please check on the latest information regarding the game day experience at www.rolltide.com or uagameday.com, as well as following your local media outlets. Thank you for your loyal support and your love of Alabama football – its history, traditions and rivalries. Your belief that Alabama football is based on principles and qualities that go beyond the playing fi eld, improve with age, and are handed down from generation to generation, are qualities that separate a game in Bryant-Denny Stadium from any other athletic experience anywhere! Administration of Barack Obama, 2013 Remarks Honoring the 2012 NCAA Football Champion University of Alabama Crimson Tide April 15, 2013 The President. Roll Tide! Audience members. Roll Tide! The President. Everybody, have a seat. Have a seat here. It is a great pleasure to welcome the Alabama Crimson Tide to the White House again. I want to congratulate them on winning their 15th national championship and their third in 4 years. They are starting to learn their way around the White House. [Laughter] I was thinking about just having some cots for them here, they're here so often, except we couldn't find any that were big enough. [Laughter] Now, before I begin, I want to extend sympathies to the family of Mal Moore, who passed away last month, after a career that spanned six decades as a player, a coach, and athletic director at Alabama. Mal did more than just about anybody to make this program what it is today. Our prayers go out to all the members of the Alabama community who knew him and loved him. Now, last year obviously also had a lot of bright spots for the Crimson Tide. From the beginning of spring practice, the best teams in the country had one goal, and that was to try to at least be as good, if not better, than Alabama. But the Tide kept on rising to the occasion, and they never let up. Back in January, with the whole country watching, this team lined up against the number- one ranked, undefeated Fighting Irish of Notre Dame and dominated from the first possession.
