This places far greater pressure on all local groups, schools, clubs, event organisers and users to quantify the actual, and longer term, sustainable sports and leisure and community demands.I cannot see how the repurposing of the NSC, to now become a local facility with a “sub regional” requirement as a possibility for just a couple of sports, satisfies a wider South London need and demand for performance pathways to support an Olympic Legacy sports strategy.Why is this important to you? This section of the LOOP passes through attractive countryside with strong links to Charles Darwin who described the countryside around the village of Downe as 'the extreme verge of the world'. The walking is generally easy, but with a few longish, steep slopes, stiles and kissing gates and some small flights of steps. Much of it is through commons, parks and along tracks. There are cafes and pubs at many places along the way and you can picnic at High Elms, where there are also public toilets. The walk starts at Jubilee Country Park and finishes at Hayes station. There are several bus routes along this walk. Continues Continues on next page Directions. To get to the start of this walk from Petts Wood station exit on the West Approach side of the station and turn right at the T-junction with Queensway. Follow the street until it curves round to the left, and carry straight on down Crest View Drive. Take Tent Peg Lane on the right and keep to the footpath through the trees to the left of the car park. After 100 metres enter Jubilee Country Park, and join the LOOP. From the car park on Tent Peg Lane enter the park and at the junction of several paths and go through the gate on the left and follow the metalled path for about 150 metres, then branch left.

Our parish profile has been designed with you in mind. We hope that this information and prayerful discernment, will help you decide whether you are the right person to lead this church. Who we are We are a warm, friendly and welcoming church with a bright future. The congregation would probably consider themselves to be members of a middle Anglican church. After the retirement of our Priest-in-Charge in January 2018 we entered an interregnum. The PCC and active church members have worked hard and maintained the majority of services and activities. Our History Holy Cross is a large church built in 1933 and we have been proud to display the ‘Pathfinder Window’ since its origin. The window is stained glass depicting a painting by Ernest Stafford Carlos, the brother of the first vicar of the parish. It was given by his mother and family in his memory when he was killed in action in the First World War, in 1917. It depicts a famous painting much valued by the Scouting community. The stained-glass window is notable in that it was made in the William Morris factory, and was mistakenly thought to have been lost during the Second World War. People come from all over to see this window. Holy Cross Day Celebrated on September 14th, Holy Cross day is a day which honours and commemorates the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made on the cross for our salvation.
