Mar 28, 2012 21:10 BST The Lumia 900 And - Main Specifications Compared

Nokia has recently announced two new handsets in their Lumia range. These are the Lumia 800 and the Lumia 900. In this article I will look at how these handsets differ but looking at some of their key features.

Screen

Both handsets have similar technology, employing AMOLED capacitive , both sharing a resolution of 480x 800. The only difference between the screens of these phones is the size. The Lumia 800 has a 3.7 inch screen, whereas the Lumia 900, being the more premium device has a larger screen which measures 4.3 inches, putting it on par with the likes of the HTC Sensation XE and the Samsung Galaxy S2.

Internet Browsing

Both Lumia handsets offer similar connectivity options for connecting to the internet. These include Wi-Fi, along with coverage. The only difference between the phones’ internet connectivity is the data download speeds over 3G connections. The Nokia Lumia 800 offers 3G download speeds of 14.4 megabytes per second, which is the same as phones like the HTC Sensation XE and the Apple iPhone 4S. The on the other hand, has much faster 3G download speeds, at a massive 42 megabytes per second, although both share the same upload speeds of 5.76 Mbps. The difference between the download speeds will be noticeable in the loading times of web pages, as well as the speeds at which streaming content like YouTube videos load and play; the faster speeds of the Nokia Lumia 900 means there will be virtually no lag when a video is buffering.

There are a few other differences between the phones, but these are minor, which will go virtually unnoticed by the majority of users. Both handsets share several impressive features like an 8 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and 720p video capture. The only difference between the two in terms of their credentials as a is the fact that the Lumia 900 model has a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, a feature which the Lumia 800 lacks altogether. Both handsets also share the same 1.4 GHz single core processor and the latest version of ’s ‘Mango’ operating system, as well as 16 GB of internal storage (neither has a microSD slot).

Aside from the differences outlined in this article, there is very little to choose between the two. If you are looking for a viable alternative to the popular Android and iOS devices which are currently flooding the market, these Nokia phones are a great showcase for the Widows Phone operating system. With their stylish aesthetics, both of these handsets look set to gain quite a fanbase in coming months.
