February 15, 2020 A Message From Principal Wendell

Dear Parents,

We begin Lent on Wednesday, February 17.

Some of you have inquired how we will distribute ashes on Ash Wednesday during this time of Covid.

Here at St. , our 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade students will attend Mass at 9:00 a.m. Ashes will be distributed after the Mass. After Mass Msgr. Bommarito and Deacon Joe Fragale will then come to school and distribute (sprinkling) ashes to the PreK-3, Prek-4 and Kindergarten.

The Second Grade will be celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation this coming Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Keep the children in your prayers as they prepare for this important and holy event.

Last week we celebrated Valentines Day with our friends, family, classmates, neighbors and others. We take care of each other, keep each other safe, especially in this time of the Covid pandemic. We should all be washing our hands, wearing masks, keeping social distancing, and being cautious about social gatherings. We are all weary of this particular time we find ourselves in, and we long for the “good old days.”

Blessings, Michel Wendell, MA Ed Principal President’s Day – No School Today Presidents' Day is a federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday in February; This year, it will be celebrated today, Monday, February 15. Originally established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington, the holiday became popularly known as Presidents' Day after it was moved as part of 1971’s Uniform Monday Holiday Act, an attempt to create more three-day weekends for the nation’s workers. While several states still have individual holidays honoring the birthdays of Washington, Lincoln and other figures, Presidents' Day is now popularly viewed as a day to celebrate all U.S. presidents, past and present. Scholarships change the equation for success, improve the lives of children and strengthen the community. When children succeed in school, the workforce is better educated, the entire region is stronger, and the challenges of poverty are met head on. And, when parents make a commitment to share the cost of a private school, education becomes a priority. Monsignor Bommarito Endowment Fund
