Simmer until soft or soak overnight. Put in blender and whiz until smooth. Store in refrigerator. Will keep at least a week. Increase sweetness by adding date granules simmered in small amount of water until soft, or chopped, pitted dates. Blend all together until smooth. APPLE-DATE SPREAD 2 cups apples, finely chopped 2 cups dates, cut small 3/4 cup water or fruit juice Pinch salt 1 can unsweetened crushed pineapple (optional) Boil gently together until soft and consistency of jam.
