Among his earlier CD releases is his first solo disc (EMI Classics) featuring Italian songs by Schubert, Verdi, Donizetti, Bellini and Rossini, accompanied by Martin Katz. Song released a live Il barbiere di Siviglia. Decca has released a DVD of a performance from the Covent Garden world premiere run of Lorin Maazel’s 1984, in which Brownlee took on the role of Syme. Brownlee was named the Seattle Opera’s 2008 Artist of the Year, received the Opera Company of Philadelphia’s 2007 Alter Award for Artistic Excellence, and was the winner of both the 2006 Marian Anderson and Richard Tucker Awards, a feat never before achieved by any artist in the same year. He participated in young artist programs LAWRENCE at both the Seattle and Wolf Trap Operas. The Ohio-born Brownlee received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Anderson University and a Master of Music degree from Indiana University. DAMIEN SNEED tenor Damien Sneed is a native of Augusta, Georgia and his professional affiliations include the City University of New York (CUNY) as a professor of music, The Juilliard School as a staff accompanist, the Martina Arroyo Foundation as an artistic consultant, Jazz at Lincoln Center as an artistic consultant, Rutgers University as a professor and YAMAHA as an endorsed Influential Artist. Damien has the ability to shift between different musical genres and styles: from classical to jazz to gospel to opera to Broadway and DAMIEN SNEED more. Last year Damien released his debut CD, Introspections LIVE, and served as musical director for BET’s hit television show, Sunday Best – Season 4. piano This summer Sneed conducted Wynton Marsalis’ Abyssinian Mass for choir and orchestra at the Barbican in London to open the Olympics. In November 2012, Damien accompanied Jessye Norman in Augusta, GA for the 10th Annual Jessye Norman School of the Arts Fundraising Gala at Augusta State University. He also just recorded a CD accompanying the world-class operatic tenor, Lawrence Brownlee on piano of Sneed’s arrangements of African-American spirituals. Some highlights of Damien’s upcoming engagements include many diverse events over a broad spectrum of musical genres. This Saturday, April 13, 2013 spring Sneed will join Lawrence Brownlee on a few recitals of arias, Corbett Auditorium art songs and spirituals. In the month of June he will be a conducting 8:00 p.m. fellow at USC Conducting Institute and in October of this year he will be joining Wynton Marsalis, the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra and his very own 70-voice choral group, Chorale Le Chateau, as conductor of Marsalis’ Abyssinian Mass in a US Tour covering over 15 cities. Next year during the 2013-2014 season he will be featured a few times at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall as well as working with the Duke Ellington Sacred Music project with Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute.
