Acronyms PCN = Primary Care Network ARRS = Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme Primary care networks explained | The King's Fund IIF = Impact and Investment Fund IPCC = Integrated Primary and Community Care IH = Integrated Health SC = Social Care PCN Network Contract • All Primary Care Network’s (PCN’s) are required to comply with a Network Contract, called the ‘Directed Enhanced Service’, commonly known as the DES • The ‘DES’ is the basis of their work and runs April–March, with revisions each year • The key sections of the DES are: • Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS) – funding for 14 extra roles in primary care such as paramedic, dietitian, health coach, podiatrist, physiotherapist, mental health • Impact and Investment Framework (IIF) – 6 indicators that PCNs receive extra payment for based on their achievement, for example learning disability health checks, social prescribing referrals, influenza vaccination etc • Structured Medication Reviews (SMR) and Medicine Optimisation* • Extended Hours Access • Enhanced Health in Care Homes* • Early Cancer Diagnosis* • Social Prescribing • Patient Engagement *Have clear specifications for what a PCN is required to do. 4 specifications are due to follow in October 2021: anticipatory care (with community services), weight management, cardiovascular disease, health inequalities Patient Engagement – requirements
