JOB AND PERSON SPECIFICATION POSITION TITLE: MARKETING & PUBLICITY OFFICER LOCATION: PORT ADELAIDE EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: FULL TIME CLASSIFICATION: ASO-4 / ASO-5 (dependent upon experience) INCUMBENT: VACANT IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: MARKETING MANAGER POSITION OBJECTIVES: The Marketing & Publicity Officer is responsible, as part of the Marketing team, for the development and implementation of effective marketing, promotional and publicity strategies for Country Arts SA’s arts programs and corporate services. REPORTING STRUCTURE The Marketing Officer is responsible through the Marketing Manager to the Chief Executive Officer and will be required to liaise with Country Arts SA’s other Executive Group and other arts program managers. SPECIAL CONDITIONS Regular out of hours work will be required. Regular intrastate and occasional interstate travel will be required. 1 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES In conjunction with Country Arts SA’s Managers contribute to the organisations goals and objectives by: • Planning, developing and managing publicity campaigns, assisting with marketing campaigns and functions which contribute to the achievement of budgeted revenue targets and increasing the profile of Country Arts SA’s arts programs and services. • Initiating and monitoring management systems designed to chart the success and manage the risk of Country Arts SA’s marketing and publicity functions. • As appropriate develop and implement market research, in particular around audience trends and the success of Country Arts SA’s marketing publicity, social media activity and pricing strategies. • Ensure the effective development, management and monitoring of Country Arts SA’s arts programs by: ° Developing and managing effective publicity campaigns; ° Establishing regular contact and providing information to the South Australian and national media; ° Conducting media interviews and public meetings as required and ° Conducting regular internal audits and training of staff in media presentation skills. • Contribute to the identification, management and promotion of special regional events and major collaborative projects by: ° Assisting with the planning of promotional strategies ° Drafting budgets and related documents ° Liaising with participant organisations and individuals 2 Contribute to the achievement of a strong and positive public image for Country Arts SA and its programs by: • Working closely with state and national media outlets to promote Country Arts SA’s programs and activities; • Identifying marketing and publicity needs and opportunities which can be met by the organisation; • Assisting with, and advising the Chief Executive Officer and other program managers on speeches, public engagement opportunities, brand management and media profile building; • Working with the Marketing Manager on the development of special publications, campaigns and social media marketing to raise the profile of Country Arts SA and regional arts; • Considering and implementing research programs designed to monitor, maintain and increase service and satisfaction to customers, clients and partners as well as ensure the effective use of advertising and related promotional activities • In consultation with the Marketing Manager participate in the development of long term strategic planning with the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Trustees. • Ensuring the promotion and implementation of the principles of public administration and personnel management, in particular equal opportunity and occupational health and safety. 3 MARKETING OFFICER PERSON SPECIFICATION KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE (SELECTION CRITERIA): ESSENTIAL MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Knowledge/Skills/Experience Requirements • High level of verbal and written communication skills and proven creative ability • Proven ability to foster and maintain the confidence, trust and cooperation of a network of people at all levels of management, the public, the media and a diverse range of customers • Proven ability to cope with high volumes of work, identify priorities and deliver outcomes to meet deadlines related to a wide range of marketing and promotional activities • Expertise in social media marketing • Demonstrated media management and leadership skills • Demonstrated social media planning and implementation skills • Demonstrated speech writing skills • Proven ability to work effectively, both individually and as a team member • Experience in planning and delivering timely, effective and budgeted marketing and publicity campaigns • Experience in producing analytical reports on marketing and publicity campaigns 4 DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS Knowledge/Skills/Experience Requirements • Ability to identify the implications of change in the external environment which will affect Country Arts SA’s arts programs and services • Direct experience in the arts industry • Understanding of the arts industry in both South Australia and nationally • Understanding of the national and state based media organisations • Understanding of OHS and Risk Management principles and their application • Qualifications in arts marketing or public relations • Experience in working with sponsors and /or philanthropists • Experience in working with websites and mobile devices • Experience in and / or an understanding of brand management Drivers Licence Possession of a current Class 1 Drivers Licence 5 .
