It is a stress-free process of acquiring knowledge with more freedom and opportunity of access. Therefor learner registration in distance education system is increasing year by year in India. KKHSOU and DODL of Dibrugarh University are two leading higher educational institution in Assam. There are enough study centres of both Dibrugarh University and KKHSOU for providing higher education through open and distance mode. The objective of this paper is to analysis about development and problems of distance education in Assam. Here also try to give some suggestions for the better run of different ODL programmes in Assam with special reference to Dibrugarh University and KKHSOU. For this study here adopted descriptive survey method. Key Word: ODL, DODL and KKHSOU. INTRODUCTION: Education is a very important aspect in human life, which is a process of gaining experiences and these experiences bringing changes in human behaviour. A Comparative Study on Library Automation Among the College Libraries of Sivasagar and Dibrugarh District in Assam Tinku Pegu Prafulla Kumar Mahanta Abstract The paper is based on a comparative study on library automation among 20 college libraries of Sivasagar and Dibrugarh affiliated to Dibrugarh University. The methodology used for collecting data for the study is a combination of questionnaire and interview method. The findings of the study reveal that most of the college libraries of both the districts are not up to the mark at all in the application of the latest ICT in various housekeeping operations. The purpose of this paper is to determine the use and feasibility of the Open Source Library management softwares in the college libraries of Assam.
