The local economy is strong, with about 23 percent of the state’s overall sales tax revenue coming from the Gulf Coast Region. Industry concentration in the region primarily revolves around the production of chemi- cal and petroleum products, as well as certain transporta- tion sectors, all contributing positively to this unique local economy.

From private investment in telecommunication systems, broadband networks, freight railroads, energy projects, and pipelines, to public spending on transportation, water, buildings and parks, our infrastructure is the backbone of a healthy economy. Airports / Spaceports, Deep-water Ports, Foreign Trade Zones, Freight Railroads, Pipelines, Roads & Highways and Road Improvements. Electricity, natural gas, water, and drainage are all commodities and services that businesses need to function. Thankfully they are in abundant supply in Galveston County. Local Source: TANGER OUTLET The ϐirst ever joint venture between the country’s leaders in outlet development, Tanger Factory Outlets Center, Inc. and Simon Premium Outlets, have created the new Gateway to the Gulf Coast. Located on 55 acres along the heavily tourist driven Interstate 45South, the new 350,000 sq. ft. branded Tanger Outets is the premium shopping destination of the region. Taking its architectural aesthetics from both historic Texas City and the seaside community of Galveston, the new center is divided into four distinct districts where the shopper will meander through meticulously landscaped prome- nades, under trellis and bris soleil which converge in an open air center court aptly named Gulf Coast Promenade. This scenic focal point of the center is home to a stylish yet contemporary food court, which will provide climate-controlled indoor seating as well as outside dining under umbrellas along the water’s edge. Complimentary Wi-Fi is offered throughout the center. There are 90 leading brand name and designer outlet stores in Phase I. The Texas City-La Marque area is home for a wide array of retail, industry and service-oriented businesses. Everything from large department stores to specialty boutiques can be found. Shopping is plentiful!

Texas City's Buc‐ee's is a "mega-store" and that's not using that term lightly. It's a sporting goods store, a Texas boutique, toy store, surf shop, deli, and miniature grocery store rolled into one building. Oh, and don't forget the Beaver Nuggets, those addictive sweet snacks.

Shopping Texas City & Historic 6th Street Sixth Street is lined with many historical commercial buildings dating from the early 1900's. The storied old buildings now house a host of shops, jewelry store, sports bar, antique shops, casu- al cafe, salon, and much more. Other shops and restaurants are lined up down Palmer Highway (the main thoroughfare in Texas City).

Shopping La Marque from Wal‐Mart and Sam's Club to Mom & Pop Shops....You'll be pleasantly surprised at what great hidden treasures are right here in our backyard!
