Cold weather today, at least in these parts, is a spring afternoon compared to the bitter cold winters of yesteryear. Back then, it was so cold that instead of letting faucets drip to protect pipes, faucets had to spew water like a fire hydrant to keep the pipes from bursting. Back then, some of my neighbors would turn on the sprinklers in their yard to create icicle trees and Florida’s version of a winter wonderland.
