The Local Plan will guide where new development will take place across the Borough area, and identify how places will be shaped in the future. The purpose of the Local Plan is to set out a vision for the development of the Borough, objectives to guide growth, and policies to make sure that new development meets local needs in line with national policy. 1.2 The Local Plan for Stafford Borough consists of three documents: The Plan for Stafford Borough which sets out the strategic policies for the Borough. It contains the development strategy, including identifying the sustainable settlement hierarchy, allocates significant development for Stafford and Stone through Strategic Development Locations and details topic specific policies. The Plan for Stafford Borough was adopted on the 19th June 2014. The Plan for Stafford Borough: Part 2 (formerly known as the Site Allocations document(1)) sets out an approach to development in the sustainable settlement hierarchy, establishes boundaries for the Recognised Industrial Estates, considers retail frontages, and gypsy and traveller allocations. -

Needwood & South Derbyshire Claylands Area profile: Supporting documents Introduction National Character Areas map As part of Natural England’s responsibilities as set out in the Natural Environment White Paper,1 Biodiversity 20202 and the European Landscape Convention,3 we are revising profiles for England’s 159 National Character Areas North (NCAs). These are areas that share similar landscape characteristics, and which East follow natural lines in the landscape rather than administrative boundaries, making them a good decision-making framework for the natural environment. Yorkshire & The North Humber NCA profiles are guidance documents which can help communities to inform West their decision-making about the places that they live in and care for. The information they contain will support the planning of conservation initiatives at a East landscape scale, inform the delivery of Nature Improvement Areas and encourage Midlands broader partnership working through Local Nature Partnerships. The profiles will West also help to inform choices about how land is managed and can change. Midlands East of Each profile includes a description of the natural and cultural features England that shape our landscapes, how the landscape has changed over time, the current key drivers for ongoing change, and a broad analysis of each London area’s characteristics and ecosystem services. Statements of Environmental South East Opportunity (SEOs) are suggested, which draw on this integrated information. South West The SEOs offer guidance on the critical issues, which could help to achieve sustainable growth and a more secure environmental future. -

local environment agency pi DOVE ENVIRONMENTAL OVERVIEW AUGUST 1999 Ashbourne Dove LEAP Foreword I am delighted to introduce the Consultation Draft for the Dove Local Environment Agency Plan. This is the third LEAP to be produced in the Upper Trent Area of the Midlands Region and looks at environmental issues within the River Dove catchment. The Agency in consultation with key organisations has identified a number of environmental issues relevant to this area. We need to confirm that we have addressed all current issues and the options to resolve them, taking into account the often conflicting demands on the environment by its users. The LEAP process will provide a vision for the environmental needs of the River Dove area. It will provide a framework within which we can seek to develop new partnerships with organisations and bodies with whom we wish to share a common approach on environmental , issues. This report is published as part of our commitment to being open and consulting with others about our work. This will be part of a major consultation exercise and marks the start of a three month period of consultation. Following the consultation period the Agency will produce a five year action plan which will set out a costed programme of work by the Agency and other organisations. Annual reviews over the five year period will report on significant achievements and progress being made on the issues. Your views are extremely important. Only by letting us know your opinions will we be able to make a real difference to your local environment. -

Open Space Strategy 2014 - 2028 Foreword Councillor Robert McCardle Cabinet Member Planning and Business Enterprise I am pleased to introduce the second Open Space Strategy for South Staffordshire. It aims to build on the successes from the previous strategy and looks at future ways to provide the open spaces that the district’s residents and visitors deserve. Open spaces provide essential facilities for all kinds of recreational activity, aid people’s health and wellbeing, assist in supporting the economy, mitigate the impacts of climate change and are part of the solution to flooding. In short, they are vitally important in creating sustainable places and sustainable communities as well as providing a wealth of other environmental benefits. It is therefore necessary to ensure that open space considerations form part of the Council’s strategic planning work. We have recently completed a major piece of work on the provision of indoor and outdoor sports facilities. That work is complementary to this Open Space Strategy and, together they will contribute to a Supplementary Planning Document on Open Space, Sport and Recreation that supports policies in the Local Plan. Only by careful strategic planning can we make sure that existing open spaces are safeguarded and enhanced and that new sites are provided through the development management process. We have set an ambitious but achievable set of challenges that will be met through the implementation of this strategy.
