Y O U ' R E I N V I T E D T O FEEL THE FORCES OF NATURE We invite you on this exciting, adventurous and enlightening excursion on which you will experience some of the fresh and natural adventures the south region of Streymoy has to offer. Pick up will be at your hotel at 10:00. Starting from Hotel Føroyar and the city hotels will be a little later. The first part will be a beautiful and easy hike from Tórshavn across the mountain to the old village of Kirkjubøur. On the route you can see how the Faroe Islanders use the cairns for navigation, hear the birds and enjoy the stunning view of the islands Nólsoy, Hestur, Koltur and Sandoy. The hike has a duration of 2 hours and is 7 km. At 12:30 we arrive to the village of Kirkjubøur. Kirkjubøur is a beautiful and charming village where most of the houses are built in the old style. Kirkjubøur has a wealth of attractions; for example, Kirkjubømúrurin, the ruins of an old cathedral, which is believed to have been built around 1300. There is also Stokkastovurnar, the old farmhouses from about 1350, which are built on the ruins of the old bishop’s seat. The church in Kirkjubøur is the oldest church in the Faroe Islands still in use. We continue to a traditional and cozy boat house in Velbastaður to enjoy our lunch before going on a thrilling 2 hours boat tour in which you really feel the forces of nature! We go sightseeing on the west side of the island Hestur. We depart from Gamlarætt. The west side of the island is like entering another world. The stunning 400-meter-high cliffs, with thousands of birds and large caves, is something you should not miss on your visit to the Faroe Islands. You will be back at the hotel app. 16:30.
