New Summer Internship Programs

These programs provide students with a 5-week internship to . Students will serve as teachers’ aides and teach English at New Taipei City middle schools 5 days a week.

May 27, 2019 - June 21, 2019 The participating Junior High schools are Ruifang Junior High, Ansi Junior High, Banqiao Junior High, Linkou Junior High, Toqian Junior High, and Junior High.

July 15, 2019 - August 9, 2019

The participating Junior high schools are Wenshan Junior High, Shenkeng Junior High, Yingge Junior High, and Ziqiang Junior High. Each school has two openings, and the total openings for these two programs is 20.

Tainan City Summer Internship Project* June 3, 2019 - July 5, 2019 | July 8, 2019 - August 9, 2019 This program provides students a 5-week internship to City. Students will serve as teacher’s aides and teach English at Tainan City elementary schools five days a week. Cerritos College will start to accept the applications for Taipei City, New Taipei City and Tainan City programs.

The deadline date for submitting the application for New Taipei City is March 31, 2019.

The deadline date for submitting the application for Tainan City is April 15, 2019.

Taipei City Fall Semester Internship Project August 20, 2019 – December 20, 2019 This program provides students a four-month internship to Taipei. Students will serve as teacher’s aides and teach English at Taipei City elementary schools three days a week. Cerritos College students can also take courses offered by Taipei University. The program includes home-stay lodging with a host family, free lessons, cultural classes and local trips, and more. Part of the program’s objective is to develop English-integrated teaching materials and assessment tools that promote English learning to young Taiwanese students. Cerritos College will start to accept the applications for Taipei City fall semester internship program. The deadline date for submitting the application is June 1, 2019.

Interested students should turn in the completed application form and required documents to Norma C. Rodriguez, Director of Student Program Services located in the Santa Barbara building or via email to [email protected] or to [email protected].

Qualifications for this program are: 1. Cerritos College students or alumni of Cerritos College. 2. Ability to communicate with students, peers and others. 3. Understanding of and showing respect to Taiwan’s cultures and following the laws in Taiwan are expected. All participants should sign a declaration. The detailed benefits are listed below: A. Participants Benefits: 1. Host family: Each participant will be provided an accommodation place provided by the participating New Taipei schools. 2. Cultural Events: New Taipei city provides a cultural event for students 3. Transportations: an Easy (Yoyo) travel card in the value of NT1,280 dollars per month for Taipei and New Taipei and Bus System to get around, to the host family and the participating school. 4. Meal: Three meals per day (a subsidy of up to NT 200 dollars per day, or paid to participating Taipei schools), five days a week. (There are meal compensation on Weekends) 5. Accident Insurance covers: For an injury medical treatment, the actual payment will be reimbursed up to NT 100,000 dollars. The medical insurance is not provided in the program. It is recommended that students should check your health insurance providers before you leave the country.

B. The detailed responsibilities are listed below: 1. Conduct an internship in the city's schools five days a week (eight hours a day). 2. The educational internship course including serve as teaching assistants, participant school’s cultural events and activities. 3. The applicants are responsible for a round trip airline ticket to Taiwan and other expenses not covered by New Taipei city. 4. The accepted applicants should provide a two-minute self-introduction video to New Taipei City.
