Notes due 21 September 2022 ITV plc ("ITV" or the "Issuer") is issuing €600,000,000 2.125 per cent. Notes due 21 September 2022 (the "Notes"). The issue price of the Notes is 99.135 per cent. of their principal amount. Unless previously redeemed or cancelled, the Notes will be redeemed at their principal amount on 21 September 2022. The Notes are subject to early redemption (i) in whole but not in part, at the option of the Issuer at any time at the Relevant Early Redemption Amount (as defined below), (ii) in whole but not in part, at the option of the Issuer at any time in the event of certain changes affecting taxes of the United Kingdom ("UK") at their principal amount together with accrued interest and (iii) at the option of Noteholders if a Put Event (as defined below) shall occur at their principal amount together with accrued interest. See "Terms and Conditions of the Notes—Redemption and Purchase". The Notes will bear interest from 21 September 2015 at the rate of 2.125 per cent. per annum payable annually in arrear on 21 September in each year commencing on 21 September 2016. Such rate will be subject to change in the case of a Step Up Rating Change or Step Down Rating Change (both as defined below) as further described in Condition 4 (Interest). Payments on the Notes will be made in euro without deduction for or on account of taxes imposed or levied by the UK to the extent described under "Terms and Conditions of the Notes—Taxation". -

Ofcom review of ITV public service broadcasting requirements By Michael Moore MP and Jeremy Purvis MSP Introduction This submission to the Ofcom review of ITV public service broadcasting requirements is made by Michael Moore, Member of Parliament for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk, and Jeremy Purvis, Member of the Scottish Parliament for Tweeddale, Ettrick and Lauderdale. As constituency parliamentarians, we represent in total a region of some 110,000 people in the south of Scotland who, in the main, receive their channel 3 programmes from ITV Border, based in Carlisle. We believe there are serious issues affecting the future of regional public service broadcasting, which have now been brought into sharp focus by ITV plc’s plans to make severe cuts to the regional news operations including those of ITV Border. We set out below our concerns and our hopes for this review. Importance of ITV Border ITV Border, and its independent predecessor, Border Television plc, have provided regional news and other programming to the north of England and the south of Scotland for decades. The particular engineering challenges of broadcasting to a vast rural area with limited population have co-existed with the unique historic, cultural and political differences defined (but also sometimes blurred) by the border between Scotland and England. ITV Border has, over the years, risen to the challenge very successfully. There have, of course, been issues that have arisen over time relating to Scottish sport and other Scottish programmes, but, by and large, ITV Border has served our region well. As technology has developed over the years, innovations have been introduced which have allowed ITV Border to be central to the news agenda in the south of Scotland. -

British Sky Broadcasting Group plc (BSkyB) is a holding company for subsidiaries whose principal activities relate to television broadcasting and retailing in the UK and Ireland. BSkyB operates the direct-to-home satellite platform and other digital subscriber line networks and mobile networks. BSkyB also distributes a number of its channels on a wholesale basis to cable (and other) operators who act as retailers to its UK and Irish customers. 2. News Corporation (News Corp) holds 39.14% of the shares in BSkyB (through its subsidiary News UK Nominees Limited). Of the thirteen directors on the Board of BSkyB, three are also directors of News Corp. 3. ITV plc (ITV) was formed in 2004 by the merger of Carlton Communications plc and Granada plc and it is active in a number of sectors primarily related to television production and broadcasting. ITV’s in-house content arm (Granada Productions, renamed ITV Productions) principally produces a range of light entertainment and drama TV programming with mainstream audience appeal in the UK. 4. ITV distributes its own third party content via a wide range of wholly owned free to air television channels broadcast on a range of platforms, and sells advertising on behalf of all 15 Channel 3 regional licencees in the UK, 11 of which it controls. ITV also holds a controlling 75 per cent share in GMTV, (which holds the national Channel 3 licence for breakfast television); a 40% stake in the news provider Independent Television News (ITN) and interests in two of the six digital terrestrial television multiplex platforms. -

More investment is being put into the life sciences and tech sectors, creating industries that will attract attention and bolster Aberdeen’s economy. Established sectors will also receive investment from schemes promoted by Aberdeen City Council, to grow Aberdeen into an area in the North East for business. Together this will ensure that Aberdeen’s economy becomes more productive and utilises the industries it currently has. Aberdeen Profile Aberdeen is a port city in the North East of Scotland and has long been known for its flourishing oil and gas industry. This has resulted in the city becoming the third most populated in Scotland with 196k people living in the city and 228k living in the council area. Known for its grey granite architecture, the city is home to two universities with the University of Aberdeen being the fifth oldest in the world. In 2018 it was found to be the best UK city to start a business, given the array of sectors and investment going into supporting new and existing companies. 3 Economic Overview Aberdeen’s economy has been dominated by the oil industry but has seen new sectors emerge due to the success from oil and gas. -

The Contemporary English Country House Novel After 2000
Resurgence and Renovation: The Contemporary English Country House Novel after 2000 Submitted for examination for the degree of Ph.D. in English Literature by Barbara Williams 080782814 School of English Literature, Language, and Linguistics Newcastle University August 2015 Abstract This thesis examines the resurgence of the English country house novel since 2000 as part of the growing popularity of the country house setting in contemporary British culture. In the context of economic recession, growing English nationalism, and a Conservative-led government accused of producing a ‘Downton Abbey-style society’, country house texts are often dismissed as nostalgic for a conservative social order. This study reclaims the English country house novel from this critical dismissal, stressing the genre’s political ambivalence. While readings of the country house resurgence are mostly played out through the media’s reaction to television programmes, my research provides a detailed and comparative examination of literary texts currently missing from the debate. I situate Ian McEwan’s Atonement (2001), Sally Beauman’s Rebecca’s Tale (2001), Toby Litt’s Finding Myself (2003), Wesley Stace’s Misfortune (2005), Diane Setterfield’s The Thirteenth Tale (2006), Sarah Waters’s The Little Stranger (2009), and Alan Hollinghurst’s The Stranger’s Child (2011) within a wider body of discourse on the country house, exploring the contemporary relevance and cultural value of the setting. It is my contention that the English country house novel self-consciously negotiates its growing popularity in contemporary culture. In chapter one, I argue that the recent shift from material to textual inheritance in the genre is a way of reclaiming voices traditionally excluded from the canonical house of fiction. -

-iì~ '1,,J C.12 The Development of the UK Television News Industry 1982 - 1998 Thesis submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy by Alison Preston Deparent of Film and Media Studies University of Stirling July 1999 Abstract This thesis examines and assesses the development of the UK television news industry during the period 1982-1998. Its aim is to ascertain the degree to which a market for television news has developed, how such a market operates, and how it coexists with the 'public service' goals of news provision. A major purpose of the research is to investigate whether 'the market' and 'public service' requirements have to be the conceptual polarities they are commonly supposed to be in much media academic analysis of the television news genre. It has conducted such an analysis through an examination of the development strategies ofthe major news organisations of the BBC, ITN and Sky News, and an assessment of the changes that have taken place to the structure of the news industry as a whole. It places these developments within the determining contexts of Government economic policy and broadcasting regulation. The research method employed was primarily that of the in-depth interview with television news management, politicians and regulators: in other words, those instrumental in directing the strategic development within the television news industry. Its main findings are that there has indeed been a development of market activity within the television news industry, but that the amount of this activity has been limited by the particular economic attributes of the television news product. -

PARTIES 1. British Sky Broadcasting Group plc ('Sky') is a diversified media and communications company, with subsidiaries mainly active in the creation, wholesale supply, and broadcast of linear television (TV) channels;1 the retail distribution of its and third parties' linear pay TV channels via direct to home (DTH) satellite, the internet, and mobile technologies; the retail distribution of video on demand (VOD) content; retail telephony and broadband services; the provision of conditional access, access control and electronic programme guide (EPG) services to broadcasters and interactive service providers on Sky's DTH platform and the sale of advertising and sponsorship on Sky's and third parties' channels and websites, through Sky Media. 2. Virgin Media Television ('VMTV') was a subsidiary television channel business of Virgin Media Inc ('Virgin Media'). The VMTV channels (together with certain high definition (HD) and time-shifted versions) are mainly pay TV (subscription) channels, namely LIVING, LIVINGit, Bravo, Bravo 2, Challenge, Challenge Jackpot and Virgin 1 (a free-to-air ('FTA') channel). 1 A 'linear' television service is that where TV programmes are broadcasted at scheduled times on specific channels. 1 Virgin Media also owns Interactive Digital Sales Limited ('IDS'), an advertising sales house, which currently sells airtime and programme sponsorship on the VMTV channels, and also on the UKTV channels in which Virgin Media has a 50 per cent stake.
