Churchdown, St John the Evangelist The church of St John the Evangelist was founded as a mission chapel in Parton Lane in 1933 and was known as the Holy Redeemer until its rededication in November 1941. The present church was built in 1957. The benefice also cares for St Andrew's, Innsworth and, from 1956-1970, St Francis Church Hall, Innsworth, and is in the Diocese of Gloucester.
