Read & Listen to a Digital Book with Sora & Overdrive for English Language Learners & Developing Readers

Apps and list of NEISD e-books that also have audio books
The Sora and Overdrive apps will both need to be downloaded on the e-reader device to be able to read and listen at the same time. Select and curate high interest titles in Sora that are available as ebooks and audiobooks
Librarian can curate a collection of popular titles through Overdrive Marketplace that are available as ebooks and audio books to display on the home page of the campus Sora app
Search for titles with ebooks & audio books available from a list of titles created by Overdrive
There are over 1000 titles with ebook & audio book formats - search for high interest titles in Sora or create a Read & Listen collection for your campus Sora home page

● Click the magnifying glass, type the title in the search box (or leave blank) ● Select “Available Books” checkmark ● Click “Search” button ● Refine results to sort by Title (so that available audiobook and ebook appear together in the results)
Checkout the ebook from Sora
Checkout (borrow) the ebook in the Sora app.
● Close the book by clicking the X in the upper left corner to allow the ebook to download ● This will allow the student to read the book without access to the internet. Use Overdrive to check out the audiobook
● Switch to the Overdrive app and search for the same title and check out the audio book. ● Choose “Add to App” ● Go to the bookshelf and give the audiobook time to download to the device (this will take some time)
After downloading, play the audio book in Overdrive
● Toggle to the Sora app and open the ebook ● Enjoy reading the ebook as you listen to the audiobook ● The audiobook and ebook will remember where you left off after you close and then re-open the apps at a same time. ● Ear Buds can be purchased for less than $1 each on Amazon for students who don’t have their own.
