Linebackers VMI 10 Without a doubt the most experienced crew entering 2014 are the linebackers. Senior Carl Robinson, who earned second-team all-conference honors last season, will start at inside linebacker and is fully healed following an ACL tear which kept him out of the season finale at Clemson.

Junior Carson Smith will play inside next to Robinson and is also 100 percent following a fractured ankle suffered in fall camp last season which kept him out the entire 2013 campaign. Robinson finished his junior season with 92 tackles, seventh most in the conference, while Smith recorded 91 stops in 2012.

Two more solid athletes in junior James Riley and sophomore Tevin Floyd will play outside. Floyd had a huge debut campaign in 2013, recording 38 tackles and two interceptions en route to being named to the SoCon All-Freshman squad. Riley, who has played in 16 career games including 15 starts, made 76 tackles in 2013 with 4.5 tackles for loss.

Bandit Senior Rah Muhammad is the established starter at the bandit position. The bandit acts as a linebacker/safety hybrid and is the roaming defender in an uneven defense. Muhammad enters his final season having played in 29 games with 17 starts.
