  • NBC Gives 'This Is Us' Three-Season Renewal Ahead of Upfronts
NBC Gives 'This Is Us' Three-Season Renewal Ahead of Upfronts 05.12.2019 NBC is coming off its sixth straight season as the top-rated network among primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49, even though it's seen its overall ratings decline in the demo by more than 25 percent. Some of that is due to the lack of a Super Bowl or Winter Olympics, however. As it works to maintain its dominance, NBC's clear on at least one thing: It's keeping This Is Us on the air for as long as it can. After renewing the tear-jerking drama after season one for two more seasons, the network has now renewed the family drama for three more seasons , taking it through the 2021-22 TV season and the likely planned end of the series as executive producer Isaac Aptaker has said the show could wrap up after season six. "In a television landscape with nearly 500 original scripted series, there are very few, if any, that have the critical and cultural impact of This Is Us and we couldn't be more proud to bring fans three more seasons of a show that so well represents the NBC brand," said Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, presidents of scripted programming for NBC Entertainment, in a statement. "A huge thank you and congratulations to our executive producers, cast and crew who reach new heights every week with the show's inventive and compelling storytelling." Moreover, show creator Dan Fogelman also signed a five-year deal with Disney-owned Twentieth Century Fox Television said to be worth $125 million.

Big Lots Makes Everyone Feel Like a Million Bucks with New “Be A BIGionaire” Campaign Actor, Author and Producer Retta Stars in National Marketing Campaign for Big Lots COLUMBUS, OHIO – May 24, 2021 – Big Lots, Inc. (NYSE: BIG), a national neighborhood discount retailer, today announced a new, breakthrough brand campaign – “Be A BIGionaire” – that invites savvy shoppers to feel like a million bucks when they hunt for the best deals at their neighborhood Big Lots. Featuring Retta – actor, author and producer best known for her role in the NBC series “Good Girls” and “Parks and Recreation” – the first “Be A BIGionaire” brand campaign television spots launched in select markets on April 24 and will be rolled out nationally ahead of the annual Memorial Day sale at Big Lots. Big Lots created the “Be A BIGionaire” campaign after conducting extensive research about our consumer, why they shop us over the competition and why they think we are special. The research found that the Big Lots customer loves to live big at home – including celebrating every holiday to the extreme and outfitting their home with high-quality, on-trend furniture and décor that has exceptional value. Put simply, she loves the thrill of the hunt and finding those treasures and deals at Big Lots every day. “Our customer is an ‘all-American superwoman’ providing for her family and stretching every dollar. In developing the “Be A BIGionaire” campaign, our goal was to create a culturally relevant, disruptive campaign that introduces Big Lots to so many consumers out there that haven’t yet discovered us,” said Joice Wirkus, SVP, Marketing at Big Lots.

  • Actress and Comedian Retta to Host New Hgtv Event Series ‘Ugliest House in America’
ACTRESS AND COMEDIAN RETTA TO HOST NEW HGTV EVENT SERIES ‘UGLIEST HOUSE IN AMERICA’ New York [July 27, 2021] Fans flock to HGTV to watch innovative renovations with stunning reveals, but now in the newly greenlit series, Ugliest House in America, the network will tour properties nominated by homeowners who believe their design-challenged home is one of the worst in the country. Hosted by comedian and actress Retta--best known from Parks and Recreation and Good Girls--and a self-proclaimed home and renovation enthusiast, the series will showcase unsightly homes from coast-to-coast, including failed flips, gaudy design and heinous hodge-podge horrors. Ultimately, the “ugliest house in America" will get a $150,000 renovation, culminating in a showstopping final reveal for the lucky homeowners. The series is slated to premiere in early 2022. “I loooove a renovation ‘before and after’ so to have a front row seat from beginning to end in Ugliest House in America is pretty damn exciting, especially since I fancy myself an amateur designer,” said Retta. “My go-to design recommendations are to add a chandelier and more cabinets for storage, so amateur!” “Ugliest House in America is going to offer an exploration of America’s homes like we’ve never seen before,” said Betsy Ayala, senior vice president, production and development, HGTV. “This series will be eye candy with a twist as we showcase ‘home’ in an entirely new way, and with Retta at the helm, is sure to be a hilarious and fun-filled journey of the country’s oddest, wildest and most ridiculous homes.” ABOUT HGTV and discovery+ HGTV delivers families with relatable stories, superstar real estate and renovation experts and amazing home transformations that inspire a passionate audience.
