Dear Ms. Malone,
This letter is in response to the request submitted by Dominion Diamonds Ekati 5 Corporation on June 1 \ 2016 seeking authorization to use Paul Lake water (Lac du Gras) for dust suppression on roads at the Ekati Diamond Mine. After reviewing the ALS laboratory results submitted from water sample RW3-L 1770651-1 collected by Dominion Diamond Ekati Corporation on May 15th 2016 at Paul Lake Draw Point, it has been determined that the water sample results meet the defined water quality requirements as set out in part H, Item 12(a) in Water Licence W2012L2-0001 .
Authorization is hereby granted to proceed with withdrawal of water from Paul Lake for the purpose of road watering/dust suppression as required on the list of roads provided at the Ekati Diamond Mine. This authorization is subject to the following conditions:
• Annual water fees are paid in advance of any water usage of with drawl. • The monthly and annual quantities of fresh water obtained at all water withdraw sites or water supply facilities are recorded and listed in the Annual Report for the mine site. • As per part D item 7, of the Water Licence, freshwater intake pumps must have a fish screen designed to prevent impingement and/or entrainment of fish.
