Governor Profile – Rev’d Canon David Fisher I was born and brought up in a village outside Chester. After secondary education, I entered the legal profession in Chester and worked there and in Liverpool, specialising in Civil litigation. I was selected for training for the Priesthood in 1993; I spent a year working as a lay Pastoral Assistant at St James’ Sussex Gardens W2 and then trained for ordination at Ripon College Cuddesdon outside Oxford, where I took my Degree in Theology. My first post, as Curate, was at St George’s Stockport in north Cheshire; this was followed by my first parish (just 4 miles from there!), a suburban village not far from Manchester Airport, where I met my wife. We then moved back towards Chester when I was appointed as Vicar of Great Sutton, at the foot of the Wirral; I was there for 7 years, also serving as Rural Dean of Wirral South. In 2013, I was appointed as Canon Precentor of Bangor Cathedral in North Wales, where I was responsible for everything to do with worship and music, managing the Music and Liturgy Departments. By the time we left in 2018, both of our children had become fluent in Welsh! My wife is the Advance Nurse Practitioner in Acute Oncology at Croydon University Hospital. I enjoy walking (often with our dog), church bellringing socialising with family and friends and I try and get to the gym a couple of times per week. In June 2018, I was appointed as Priest in Charge (Rector Designate) of Carshalton, and thus became an ex officio Governor of the school. It is an utter joy to be part of the school community, both as Rector and as a Governor and I look forward to many years close cooperation between church and school. .
