It analyzes the concept of the ethnonym in the context of classical and contemporary theories of ethnogenesis. The ethnonym “Even” is studied in the historical dynamics typical of the Even people in the 19-21 centuries. Keywords: ethnonym, Even, ethnogenesis, the indigenous minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East.
