ANNOUNCING YOUTH CASTING AUDITIONS & INTERNSHIP POSITIONS DISNEY’S FREAKY FRIDAY WORK WITH AN AWARD-WINNING PROFESSIONAL CREATIVE TEAM DIRECTION BY J. SCOTT LAPP MUSICAL DIRECTION BY LYNDON PUGEDA CHOREOGRAPHY BY KATIE BANVILLE Moonlight Youth Theatre announces open casting auditions for their upcoming production of Disney’s Freaky Friday performing at the Moonlight Amphitheatre, Vista from October 11 - 19th, 2019. In addition to principle and supporting roles, an ensemble will be cast. Internships are available for all technical positions to work directly on the production. Age Range: In order to audition, you must be between the ages of 13 - 18 unless you are auditioning for the role of Fletcher. (The age range for Fletcher will 10 - 13 years old.) ABOUT THE AUDITION PROCESS AUDITIONS Audition appointments are available via Signup Friday, August 2nd Genius on the Freaky Friday page at (4:00pm to 9:00pm) moonlightfoundation.com. If you are unable to Saturday, August 3rd commit to an appointment or if the time you need (10:00am - 12:00pm) is taken, you may come to the open auditions. DANCE CALLBACKS Saturday, August 3rd (12:00pm - 1:00pm) Callbacks are a second audition process where the creative team may consider you for a CHARACTER CALLBACKS particular role in the show. If you do not receive a Saturday, August 3rd (1:00pm - 6:00pm) callback, it does not mean you were not cast in LOCATION FOR AUDITIONS & CALLBACKS the show. Vista Senior Center 1400 Vale Terrace Drive (Building B) WHAT YOU NEED BRING: - ONE completed copy of the Audition Form with conflicts listed. - ONE copy of your resume. - ONE headshot. (If you do not have a professional picture, a school photo will do. It is important that the directors be able to reference you when casting is taking place.) PREPARE: 16-32 bars from a musical (no longer than one (1) minute and bring sheet music in the appropriate key. An accompanist will be provided. No CD/ iPod auditions. Sing any song of your choice that best represents your talent and vocal range. His work around Southern California, on both the professional and educational level, has received much recognition, including a Craig Noel Award nomination and two National Youth Arts awards for Outstanding Musical Direction. Credits include: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Tarzan (Moonlight Youth Theatre); Mamma Mia, Aida, Sister Act, All Shook Up, Spamalot (Moonlight Stage Productions); The Lorax, Picasso at the Lapin Agile (The Old Globe); Gutenberg! The Musical! (Backyard Renaissance); Tell Me On A Sunday (Vista’s Broadway Theater); Forever Plaid: Plaid Tidings (New Village Arts); American Idiot(Riverside City College); All Shook Up, Bring It On, The Wedding Singer (RBV Drama). He earned his B.A. degree in Music: Interdisciplinary Computing and the Arts from UC San Diego. KATIE BANVILLE (Choreographer) is thrilled to be working with Moonlight Youth Theatre in a creative capacity after several summers performing at Moonlight in shows such as Big Fish, Spamalot, Catch Me If You Can, and Shrek. Recent creative credits: Spamalot and Rock of Ages (Choreographer/Assoc. Director) at Cygnet Theatre; Freaky Friday (Co- director/choreographer) at San Diego Musical Theatre; Tarrytown, Gutenberg! The Musical!, and Smokefall (choreographer) at Backyard Renaissance; Significant Other (Movement Coordinator) at Diversionary Theatre; and Beehive: The ‘60s Musical (Director/Choreographer) at Okoboji Summer Theatre. Recent performance credits: The Heart of Rock and Roll and Benny and Joon at The Old Globe; Freaky Friday and Escape to Margaritaville at La Jolla Playhouse. Upcoming: choreographing Around the World in 80 Days at New Village Arts. www.katiebanville.com DISNEY’S FREAKY FRIDAY CHARACTER BREAKDOWN KATHERINE BLAKE - Single mother who runs her own catering business. Over-protective and type A, Katherine believes she can have it all by doing it all: even planning, designing, and catering her own perfect wedding. Must also portray Ellie in Katherine's body. Strong belter. Principal role. ELLIE BLAKE - The hero of the story, and a rumpled, disorganized "everygirl." Ellie is smart, funny, and passionate about her school's underground scavenger hunt, but sees herself as a "Whats-her- name," easily forgotten, unlike her "perfect" mom. Must also portray Katherine in Ellie's body. Strong belter. Principal role. FLETCHER BLAKE - (To play 8 years old) Katherine's eccentric son and Ellie's younger brother. He is a budding puppeteer who habitually annoys his sister (but secretly looks up to her.) Principal role. MIKE RILEY - Katherine’s fiancé and a contractor by trade. A warm, reliable, easygoing guy, he adores Katherine and her kids. Bari-tenor. Principal role. ADAM - Love interest for Ellie. Slouchy and scruffy, he is a paragon of adorable cool. Acts as the “Listmaster” of the school’s annual underground scavenger hunt. Tenor. Principal role. TORREY - Katherine’s assistant - a high-strung perfectionist. Comfortable singing contemporary/pop musical theatre style. Supporting Role SAVANNAH - The villain - brilliant, aggressive, a winner. Dancing a plus. Comfortable singing contemporary/pop musical theatre style. Supporting Role HANNAH - Ellie’s friend - intense, emotional, lacks confidence. Comfortable singing contemporary/pop musical theatre style.
