2nd and 4th Saturday Family Game Day at The Hub - August 13 & 27

Play games at The Hub Vallejo, which includes board games, card games, role-playing games and much more!

The Hub will have Monopoly, Risk, and Stratego, among others. Bring whatever games you want to play and have fun together as a community. This is a free event, but donations are welcome, and soda, snacks, and coffee are available for purchase.

The 2nd and 4th Saturday Game Day will be from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Hub Vallejo, located at 350 Georgia Street.

Food Truck Mania - August 24

Food Truck Mania is here! On Wednesday, August 24, Askari Sowonde Productions and SactoMoFo (Sacramento Mobile Food) will present the 3rd Food Truck Mania at the Vallejo Waterfront green.

Held every fourth Wednesday of the month through October, food trucks from all over Northern California will convene in one area and create a delicious assortment of gourmet food for everyone to enjoy. Family friendly entertainment will also be provided including face painting, balloon artists, and live music.

This is a free community event. Picnic blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged. Food Truck Mania starts at 4:00 p.m. and ends at 8:00 p.m. Visit SactoMoFo's Facebook page for more information.

Empress Theatre Presents: The Kai Eckhardt Band and Stanley Jordan - August 26

Enjoy an evening with the Kai Eckhardt Band and Stanley Jordan at the Empress Theatre on August 26. Kai Eckhardt is a musician who has made a significant contribution to the evolution of the electric bass since 1989.

Influenced by the emerging fusion of funk, rock and jazz in the late 70's, Kai developed a unique style on his instrument long before attending Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Kai has performed at prestigious venues around the world such as the Royal Festival Hall in London, the Philharmonic in Munich, and the Esplanade in Singapore. Festival engagements include the Montreal Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival in the Hague, Woman World Music Festival in Spain, and Glastonbury in the U.K.

Stanley Jordan has played in over 60 countries on 6 continents, and has performed at many events such as the Kool Jazz Festival, the Concord Jazz Festival, and the Montreaux International Jazz Festival. During the 1980's, he collaborated with many artists including Art Blakely, , , and . Stanley has received four Grammy nominations, and his recent album "Friends" was nominated for an NAACP award. Today, he performs often as a soloist, and with his band, as well as collaborating with other guitarists such as , Sharon Isbin, and Muriel Anderson.

Vallejo Community Arts Foundation Gala Fundraiser - August 27

Attend the Vallejo Community Arts Foundation 2016 Gala Fundraiser on August 27. Titled "A Night in Old Vienna Gala," this fundraiser was created to support the Empress Theatre.

The event includes a dinner with full table service and live music featuring the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra. The Gala will be held at the Eagle Vines Golf Club located at 580 S. Kelly Road, American Canyon at 5:30 p.m.

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom's Portuguese Heritage Day - August 27

Celebrate Portuguese culture at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom on Saturday, August 27. The event will include an all-you-can-eat picnic lunch from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., with hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, beans, fruit, ice cream, and unlimited Coca-Cola.

Solano Food Oasis - August 27

Visit the Solano Food Oasis event on August 27, sponsored by the Food Bank of Contra- Costa and Solano counties, the Solano County Board of Supervisors, and Kaiser Permanente.

This free, community event is coordinated by County Supervisors Linda Seifert and Erin Hannigan and will feature food preparation and cooking demonstrations, food distribution and food storage tips. Food educational experts will also be on hand to show guests ways to incorporate healthy eating as part of their everyday routine - as healthy eating directly affects health.

Activities include:

Fresh food distributed by the Food Bank Healthy food cooking tips, demonstrations and samples from local chefs CalFresh and WIC benefits signups Diabetes, blood pressure and other health and dental screenings and services Town Hall space for your best ideas on expanding access tohealthy, fresh food Grow bags, seeds and demonstrations on growing herbs and foods in homes and small spaces Information about locations of Farmers Markets and food bank/food distribution sites in Solano Kids book giveaway and other activities And much more!
