Meaning of Vyasa-puja

The secret to understanding the Vedic knowledge is: yasya deve parä bhaktir yathä deve tathä gurau tasyaite kathitä hy arthäù prakäçante mahätmanaù “Only unto those great souls who have implicit faith in both the Lord and the spiritual master are all the tenets of the Vedic scriptures automatically revealed.” [ÇU 6.23] Guru is One Krishna is the original guru & is the source of all knowledge. He passed the Vedic knowledge to Brahma who passed it on to Narada. And Narada muni passed it on to Vyasadeva & similarly this transcendental knowledge was transmitted in disciplic succession by one disciple to another. The knowledge that we receive from a bona fide guru is non-different from the knowledge that was imparted by Lord Krishna or by Srila Vyasadeva. There is no difference in their instructions hence it is said that the Guru is One! Unlimited compassion of Guru Srila Vyasadeva is literary incarnation of Krishna. Originally the Veda is one & the Vedic knowledge was getting passed through hearing process (sruti) in disciplic succession. Srila Vyasadeva foresaw that in Kaliyuga, people in general will be less intelligent & will have limited memory hence they will not be able to grasp the vast Vedic knowledge only through hearing. Hence out of his unlimited compassion he divided the Vedas into 4 parts, namely – Sama, Yajur, Rg, Athrva and put them into written form. Then he explained them in the 18 Puranas, and the Mahabharata (which includes Bhagavad Gita). He then summarized all the Vedic literature in the Vedanta-sutra. And finally, he gave a natural commentary on the Vedanta-sutra, called Srimad-Bhagavatam. A bona fide guru is serving in the same mood as Vyasadeva. He is always endeavouring to make the transcendental knowledge easily available to people. He is presenting it in a way that they can understand & advance on the spiritual path, step by step. If people don’t come to him for receiving the knowledge, he goes to them to give the knowledge. Source of all mercy is the Lord Himself. Though we have left Him, He is not ready to leave us. He is accompanying us as Supersoul & guiding us from within as caitya-guru.

Vyasa-puja is an expression of heart-felt gratitude Was there any possibility of finding a bona fide guru without the guidance of the Supersoul from within? Was there any possibility of understanding the essence of Veda in this Kaliyuga, with our tiny brain without the mercy of Vyasadeva? Was there any possibility of getting an opportunity of crossing over the ocean of material miseries without our guru? Who else could have crushed our false ego, purified our intelligence & engaged our mind & senses in Lord Krishna’s devotional service? When a spiritual seeker realises how rare is the devotional service & how easily he has received it, he completely feels indebted to the Lord, to Vyasadeva, to the disciplic succession & to his guru. As guru is one, he expresses his gratitude by offering special honour to guru on his appearance day. That is called Vyasa-puja. How to express the gratitude? Just like Dhruva maharaj, who upon seeing the Lord in front of him, wanted to offer prayers but could not do so because of his inexperience, similarly many of us don’t understand what to say & how to express our gratitude to our guru. Following guidelines may help in opening up your heart…. 1) At the end of Bhagavad Gita, Sanjaya glorifies that by the mercy of his guru, Vyasadeva, he got the opportunity to receive the transcendental knowledge. Similarly you can glorify your guru by acknowledging publicly the mercy of guru & how his instructions are inspiring you to transform your life & going closer to the Lord. 2) You can glorify guru’s Vaishnava qualities by explaining how you observed the qualities & how they inspired you 3) You can give a report to your spiritual master of your activities that you have done for him, Srila Prabhupada & the movement

Who gets benefitted? Vyasa-puja is celebrated not for the benefit of the guru but for the benefit of the disciples. This celebration gives them the chance to express their gratitude by offering honour to Lord Krishna, Srila Vyasadeva & the guru parampara through their current representative. Whatever honour we are offering to the guru, he does not keep anything with him; but he passes it through the parampara to Lord Krishna. Transcendental knowledge is passed down in parampara; service is passed up in the parampara & the mercy flows down in the parampara. ******

Dear Śrīla Prabhupāda, I offer my humble obeisances to you millions of times because I am very grateful and indebted to your divine gift of Kṛṣṇa consciousness. For many years after your departure I felt that I had not done much substantial service for your pleasure. But then in 2002, I was afforded the opportunity to perform something substantial for your pleasure by the grace of your very dear disciple His Holiness Tamāl Krishna Goswami. The opportunity came in the form of a simple request born out of his own pleasure and happy mood, a request he made to me just a few days before he left us to join you. On the morning of March 7, after he had arrived in the GBC meeting room and greeted all his senior godbrothers, he embraced me and told me that his disciples had written to him good things about me, that during my trip to Fiji I had helped them. He happily requested me to do this every year. His happy mood was really appealing, so I told him that now I would consider Fiji my second home and would visit there yearly. Then on March 12, the last day of the meetings, there was a surprise agenda item concerning me. Tamāl Krishna Mahārāja was in attendance but I was not, as is the custom. But after the discussion I entered the GBC meeting room, and there was a heaviness in the air. I was informed by the GBC chairman that the proposal was withdrawn by the party who had proposed it, and that was the end of it. I was greatly relieved, because I had not even been consulted and was unnecessarily dragged in. There was a silence for awhile to observe my reaction. But I had none. Tamāl Krishna Mahārāja got up from his chair and sat with me for two minutes. He told me not to get discouraged and that politics was not for me. But he again very earnestly requested me to visit Fiji and help his disciples. On the morning of March 15, Mahārāja left his body and joined you. The separation I felt from him was a divine experience; just like the separation I felt when you had left us, even though at that time I was merely an early infant. I took to heart as a divine order Tamāl Krishna Mahārāja’s request that I preach in Fiji, and especially that I help his disciples. Under that auspices we were able to witness the construction of a beautiful temple in Sigatoka town, which opened in December 2010. But I have further undertaken the project of ornamenting the whole structure for your pleasure, Śrīla Prabhupāda. I have no knowledge of how to do it, but I have pressed on with the project in a spontaneous mood. There has been a

setback that has halted the progress temporarily, but regardless, we have sustained the enthusiasm infused by Tamāl Krishna Mahārāja. Dear Śrīla Prabhupāda, we pledge to finish the work on the Sigatoka temple and offer this spiritually edifying facility for your and Tamāl Krishna Mahārāja’s pleasure next year on July 27, the fiftieth anniversary of your establishing ISKCON. Dear Vedavyasapriya Maharaj, Please accept my humble obeisances at your lotus feet. All Glories to our beloved spiritual master, His Divine Grace Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. On this, your 71st Vyasa Puja celebration, please accept these few words of gratitude in glorification of your compassionate service to Srila Prabhupada’s mission. In Sri Caitanya Caritamrta, Krsnadasa Kaviraj Goswami describes the parampara tree of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, and in it, he reminds the reader of Lord Caitanya’s special instruction to those who have taken birth in Bharata Varsa. bhārata-bhūmite haila manuṣya janma yāra janma sārthaka kari’ kara para-upakāra “One who has taken his birth as a human being in the land of India [Bhārata-varṣa] should make his life successful and work for the benefit of all other people.” (CC Adi 9.41) Srila Prabhupada took this instruction as his life’s mission, and travelled the entire world spreading the teachings of Lord Krishna. He empowered countless persons from India and worldwide to make their lives successful and then continue the same mission into the future. You also took this instruction very seriously, and made the decision in 1977 to take initiation from Srila Prabhupada. And, you were so kind, that immediately you also made a phone call to me, pushing me to do the same. Had you not called me that day, I do not know where I would be today. I only exist today, because of your compassion to me. Your compassionate nature, not only extends to my family and me, but has reached hundreds of thousands of devotees, and interested persons worldwide. In the 1980s, while serving at New Vrindaban, USA, you travelled the length and breadth of North America, to raise funds and awareness for the activities and temples to be erected there one day. In the course of your travels, you made countless friends with whom you shared Krishna Consciousness without hesitation. You are so kind, that over the years, you took my whole family (or sometimes just my 2 sons) on your preaching trips and shared with us your service and taught us how to be full of compassion for others and gave many practical examples of

yukta-vairagya (how to utilize everything in Krishna’s service.) And today, By Krishna’s mercy, some of those same friends you made and cultivated over the last 30 years are slowly coming forward to accept initiation into Srila Prabhupada’s family as your disciples. In the present day, you are taking full advantage of your sannyasa ashram by traveling the entire world – even to very remote places such as Papua New Gunea, Burma, West Africa, etc. – thereby giving the chance for countless souls to meet a representative of Srila Prabhupada and the opportunity to hear the message of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. And of course, with your travels, you accepted a huge responsibility: to assist your senior Godbrothers by nurturing and encouraging their disciples, established temples and preaching projects. Srila Tamal Krsna Goswami specifically asked you to take care of his disciples in Fiji, and you are fulfilling that order with your regular visits to the region to inspire and guide the devotees there. Your sheer determination to complete Goswami Maharaj’s beloved Sigatoka Temple project inspite of all apparent and subtle obstacles that are coming from all sides is another example of your compassionate nature. Having visited the Australasia region with you 2 years ago, I saw first-hand, the amazing quality of your disciples. They are a true testament of your selfless and compassionate nature to them in service to our beloved spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada. Truly, Sri Sri Radha Shyamsundar are very much pleased with you and your service to Them. My Dear Most Srila Gurudeva, Please accept my most humble obeisance’s. I eagerly wait for this auspicious day of your appearance, when we as your disciples get a chance to glorify you. Recently I read that on his 52nd Vyasapuja, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati maharaja prabhupada, told that Vyasaspuja is just not the worship of Guru but it is the worship of all Vaisanava acaraya’s in the parampara. By giving us this opportunity to celebrate your Vyasapuja, actually you are mercifully giving us a chance to worship the acaraya’s in the parampara. Last year you initiated me in Gayatri mantra, giving me an opportunity to serve the deities. Srila Prabhupada has said in many of his lectures that, Spiritual master is the father and Gayatri mantra is the mother and that’s how a disciple’s family is complete. Now by worshiping the deities, I am feeling a new sense of responsibility and commitment in following my Krsna conscious vows. By doing services like bathing the Lord and performing aarti’s I am slowly able to appreciate the beauty of Lords form. But at the same time, I also feel that I don’t have any qualification to

step on the altar, as it requires a certain level of purity, which I am lacking, then I reassure myself that by following your instructions, I will be able to please you and Srila Prabhupada. Travelling with you on Kerala Safari yatra, I was able to appreciate your deep mood to ‘spoon feed’ your disciples the values of Vaisanava etiquette of service. By your own example you showed us that how one has to become selfless in service of devotees and Srila Prabhupada. Gurumaharaj the length you go to help your disciples in really unmatched. I have seen this on many occasions that you even change your travel plans or itinerary to be with a disciple who is in need of your guidance. I am truly blessed to have you as my Spiritual master, as your constant guidance is like a protective shield. I beg your blessings so that I can also imbibe the mood of humility and service. Gurumaharaj your love and compassion is paving the way for my parent’s spiritual journey and slowly but surely they are getting serious in devotional life. Just by your single instruction they started chanting sixteen rounds every day, which they are doing for nearly two years now. I request you to please continuously give them your compassion, so that they can progress in devotional service. Gurumaharaj in coming year I want to increase my association with your vani and internalize your instructions deeply in my heart. In Guruvastakam it is said that the Spiritual master should be glorified at least three times a day and doing so by reading different prayers and bhajan’s I always feel your presence by my side. We then thought about preaching style of Srila Prabhupada & yourself & concluded that you both are tatva-acaryas. You focus mostly on tatva in your lectures. But at the same time there

is a lot of rasa when we are around you. The pleasure or the force that attracts one to a certain activity or relationship is the taste one enjoys in it. That sweet taste is called the “rasa”. We see that Srila Prabhupada’s disciples never get tired of talking about his memories because there is so much rasa in it. Similarly we never get tired of being around you as the relationship gives a very sweet taste in each & every interaction with you. Bhagavad Gita says that the self-realised devotee has equal vision. Unfortunately we see now-a-days that the preaching is mainly focused on young devotees & others are getting excluded but certainly not in your case. You accept any sincere seeker & give them your shelter. We were recently discussing about a devotee with you & you said that “Spiritual life is the right of everyone”. Guru maharaj, certainly, your mercy is unlimited. With your blessings, we have started another program in Wellington city. Initially we thought that this program will be really difficult to run but almost like miraculously after your blessings many devotees from the previous bhakti vrksha came forward to help (as if a switch was turned on) & the program is going very well since May 2015. Many sincere souls are getting attracted & it is also providing enthusiasm for existing devotees. Once during a walk in Melbourne you said, "the desire of a devotee should be to go back to godhead", and when a devotee asked you, “So Maharaj, may I know, is that what you Desire?" and you Replied, "NO, I desire to preach and continue Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's Mission birth after birth." Guru Maharaj, I cannot even think of coming back to this material world again, and to preach is a far away. But Guru Maharaj, I desire to become more sincere and more serious in Krishna Consciousness so that I may develop desire to preach under your instruction. You are the bonafide representative of Srila Prabhupada and Lord Krsna and if we want go to back to Godhead it is necessary to take shelter in the lotus feet of Guru. Guru Maharaj when I met you 1st time you asked me," how can I serve you?" and I talked you for a long time in first meeting itself and asked questions again and again but you were not disturbed at all even you blessed me. I feel you are a real guru and when I see a glimpse of you I see dedication, ocean of mercy, simplicity, truthfulness, humility, tolerance, self-control, cultivation of spiritual knowledge, and aspirations in you. You are the transparent via medium to God. After the first meeting I was feeling that you are my spiritual father but in my heart I was feared whether you will accept me as a your spiritual child but after some days I took shelter at your lotus feet and you answered me that you are already in my shelter. After listening to this, my faith was once again became stronger that you always know everything what is running in my heart. You preached mercifully day and night the message of Lord Caitanya and Prabhupada. On the 71st occasion of your glorious Vyāsa-puja, I am extremely grateful to you for giving me and my family the opportunity to be in Lord Kṛṣṇa’s service through Srila Prabhupāda’s mission. You once prayed to your spiritual master, Srila Prabhupāda: “I wish to seriously follow your instructions and sincerely act on your orders so that I may become your instrument to propagate Kṛṣṇa consciousness.” Your sincere prayer and Srila Prabhupāda’s spiritual potency made you a successful instrument propagating Kṛṣṇa consciousness around the world for more than 40 years. Recently a humbling realisation dawned upon me that I am actually not good at anything at all. To reach the spiritual world and associate with Kṛṣṇa one must be free from all unwanted things and desires, and excel in any aspect of the nine processes of devotional service, which is the ultimate goal of human life. Instead of simply following in your footsteps and praying to the spiritual master, I have been taking pride in my materialistic achievements so far despite hearing innumerable times that these achievements are temporary and do not bestow any spiritual merit. My great misfortune for wasting so much precious time by not consciously listening and taking instructions on this matter seriously. The false ego is such a barrier in the path of spiritual advancement. Outwardly it may appear that I am performing devotional service but the truth is that I have been conning myself and others into thinking I am do so. Guru Maharaja, you know the truth and I can but beg you to save me from my miserable situation. The mercy of Guru, guru-krpā, is very important and most powerful. I now pray to you that I may give up all my duplicity and with a simple heart follow your instructions to propagate Kṛṣṇa consciousness without any longing for glory or adoration. Please bless me to be fixed in the path of humbly serving yourself and Srila Prabhupāda. In one of your lectures you have mentioned. ”It is said that a servant cannot understand the efficacy and unlimitedness of his master unless he serves the master without any misconception.” Due to my various misconceptions, I am not able to serve you with utmost sincerity. To be able to do this, I depend on the mercy of my god brothers and sisters who have fully dedicated themselves to you. Recently I had to explain to the children that Krishna is a person and has a form. I initially thought that this topic was too much for the children. As I was meditating on this topic, what came to my mind was how aggressively you preach against impersonalism in almost all your lectures following in the footsteps of Srila Prabhupada. You always say that the world is deep-rooted in impersonalism and we must defeat it fearlessly. You have understood Srila Prabhupada’s message and you are presenting it to us as it is. In that spirit, I took up the challenge depending on your lectures. It was wonderful to explain arguments like how can we give a form to the unlimited and limit Him. The children enjoyed it. Thank you Srila Gurudev for your lectures. You have understood the true purport of Srila Prabhupada’s words, “Preaching is the essence.” It is amazing to see how, at such an advanced age You are serving Srila Prabhupada by preaching the glories of the Holy Name far and wide. It is a difficult service to preach in faraway places where there are no proper facilities and where there is fear of opposition and yet you are performing this service with so much bliss truly expressing your love to Srila Prabhupada. On this auspicious occasion of Your Vyasapuja, I pray that I can also show my love and gratitude for everything You have given me by upholding my vows and serving my most beloved Sri Sri Radhashyamsundar and Sri Sri Nitaigaura sundar.

Please forgive me, for I cannot properly use words to express how I feel most fortunate that by the grace of Lord Sri Krishna, you have accepted me as your disciple. Even now I am unfit to do anything yet you still encourage us to go deeper into devotion. Without you, we do not know where we would be, we would certainly be in the most hellish condition, where we would remain for millions of years. Maharaj You saved us. By the help and guidance of Sri Vaman Hari Prabhu, I am studying the course which is really very helpful to understand the transcendental knowledge. My enrolment in the class would not have happened without your instruction, for that I am very grateful. It’s been many years since we originally met, since then we have had many ups and downs in this material life, during this period the Supreme Personality of Godhead Sri Krishna has saved us many times. Each time He has saved us has felt like nothing short of a miracle, and the fact we are even surviving now is miraculous. Please be kind and merciful to us so that we can eternally remain to be your servant of servants until we become free from this material life full of birth, old age, diseases, and death and by your mercy, we reach the dust of the lotus feet of Supreme Lord Sri Krishna and live there to serve Him there eternally. Then you answered "first I am a disciple after that I am a sannyasi or guru”. This shows your pure love and respect for Prabhupada which inspires us to become serious. It is my first offering to my spiritual master. I am neither capable nor eligible to speak about Guru Maharaj so I seek forgiveness for any offences done. I want to express my heartful thanks to Srila Prabhupada for establishing shelter for fallen souls such as me, for making us understand the real happiness, for making us remember the GOAL of this human life, for introducing us The Place where we originally belonged to, and for showing us the path to attain The SUPREME. Moreover, Srila Prabhupada has made the purification process so simple that even a fallen soul can pursue KRISHNA CONSCIOUSNES. He taught us by his own practices how to surrender every act of our life toward KRISHNA and how to sincerely follow the instructions of a guru maharaj. In 2011 I met Prem Kishore prabhu ji (disciple of GKG) and he made me understand the concept of Guru Shishya and the importance of GURU in a devotee life. In 2013 I met Adhokshaj prabhu ji who invited me for lecture and interaction with Guru Maharaj. It was the first time I met with Guru Maharaj and was truly inspired by His humbleness, His teachings and His way of guiding devotees. Since then I inquired Guru Maharaj with stupid questions and doubts. Every time He humbly and patiently responded by giving references to scriptures. I was fortunate enough to get my first seva on 5th April 2014, to pick Guru Maharaj from Delhi Airport for Vrindavan. That day I understood His dedication for Prabhupada and commitment for Chaitanya Mahapraphu’s mission irrespective of his health. On 25th April’2015, I got initiated in Vrindavan and Guru Maharaj’s first instruction to me is to serve as an ideal grihastha and never sit idle for a second. I seek blessings from senior Vaishnavas to help me understand the mood of Guru Maharaj and to serve Him by contributing Srila Prabhupada’s mission at the best way.

A year has passed since the preparations we had in Sydney for your grand 70th Vyasa Puja celebrations and now all glories go to your dear disciples in New Zealand for the celebrations of the 71st Vyasa Puja of Your Holiness. By quirk of fate, I could not attend the celebrations then, as my dear mother departed a few days before. However, I was fortunate for your divine guidance on handling this period and beyond with composure. On your instruction, I read the Bhagavad Gita on her bedside and everyone participated. I am eternally grateful for your prayers for her release from the bondage of the cycle of repeated births and eternally reside in Krsna loka. Profound events like this have brought me closer and closer to The Lord and shun materialism as much as possible. Gurudev, it was our fortune, to have Your Holiness visit Sydney again in June this year and a spiritual joy for us to listen to your discourses at close quarters. You braved the cold winter just for our benefit. You taught us the importance of The Temple and the spiritual benefits of building temples. You encouraged us with the construction of Sydney’s new temple for Sri Sri Radha Govinda in McGrath’s Hill. You spoke at length on the importance of the TOVP and the need for us to contribute. You taught us the importance of taking the Lord’s name at every possible moment, to call out to HIM. You broke your strict diet and honoured prasadam that we prepared, just to please us. For these mercies Guru Maharaj, we are extremely grateful. For the times I would babble in your presence, you would benevolently smile. Please forgive me for these and many other offences Gurudev. If we can give any little help to gurumaharaj into his mission this would be the greatest gift to gurumaharaj we are still wondering for those days. In Vrindavan dham we see gurumaharaj doing gurupuja ,giving class and again in the evening class in Prabhupada’s quarter giving enthusiastically gurumaharaj never felt tired sometime coming late in evening not enough to sleep couple of hours even wake and ready for mangal aarati, doing gurupuja and giving class in morning and instructing disciples and visiting guests maharaj always in service to his spiritual master Srila Prabhupada. Gurumaharaj not only praise our spiritual progress but even speak harsh words when we are out of spiritual activities. But we take those words as positively meant they are helpful in correcting our attitude. Recently when I was in Melbourne, I had some wonderful opportunities to serve Sri Sri Radha Ballabha in many services which I think wouldn’t have happened without your mercy. Lord. Without your divinity I could not awaken my dormant love for the Lord and without your spiritual guidance I would not be able to maintain my devotional service. In the scriptures Lord Krishna and Sudama Vipra personally demonstrated how one should serve the spiritual master. When Lord Krishna and Sudama Vipra went to the forest to collect fire wood for their spiritual master Sandipani Muni, they were trapped in the forest because of heavy rain and flooding. They made bundles of fire wood and placed it on their heads. They stood all night without sleep and kept the wood on their head , their bodies were wet but they were sheltering the wood under a tree or somehow to keep it dry for Gurudeva service. The next morning Gurudeva came calling: “O Krishna! O Sudama! Where are you?” When Sandipani Muni saw his disciples they were still standing with the bundles of fire wood on their heads and he became very happy and all knowledge of the Vedas entered their hearts as well as the 64 kinds of arts and learning through the spiritual master. On your Vyasapuja today, I wish I can serve you in that mood in order to obtain one drop of this divine love which was demonstrated by Lord Krishna and Sudama Vipra to Sandipani Muni. Although I am not physically present to honor you today you will always be my constant companion and I feel eternally connected to you. May your spiritual master and Their Lordships grant you strength and continued realization in Their mission and I beg to remain an aspiring humble servant at your lotus feet.

It’s been a long journey for me in ISKCON Botswana from 1992 to 2015. There was a long time in my spiritual life when I was feeling very dejected and frustrated. And then GuruMaharaj you came to Botswana in 2013.My family was so excited to meet you since we are the only gujaratis in ISKCON Botswana. We could feel your mercy flowing on us straight away and GuruMaharaj you knew we were "orphans” without a spiritual master. Sometime later when my mother Shyama devi dasi passed away GuruMaharaj you rang us up from England and offered to perform her last rites in Vrindavan and at the same time accepted me as your disciple. That was the best day in my life Guru Maharaj. Ever since then our life has changed tremendously for the better. We have been fortunate to have your darshan, serve you , cook for you and follow instructions from your Holiness. I am now part of the Lok Sanga -VVPS GLOBAL where I meet so many God Brother and Sisters and am learning a lot from them. Now we are reading Srimad Bhagvatam with devotees. We have started a matajis sanga too where we read Bhagavad Gita As It Is and discuss. With your mercy and guidance most of my time I spend in serving Sri Sri Krishna Balaram, cooking for them , stitching their clothes, fixing their jewellery, making decorations for Spiritual Celebrations etc. I have a new life in ISKCON now .Your holiness has held my hand when I was drowning in the world of nescience. To answer our questions, sometimes stupid questions because of our ignorance, you are gentle, kind and forgiving and this strength is due to your faith and service to your Guru His Divine Grace Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada to whom we pay our respectful obeisance time and again. My recent experience confirms this which I would like to share. I was in Dham waiting eagerly for prasadam as I had not eaten anything besides water and fruit for two days while flying. In the prasadam hall there was a group of newly joined devotees discussing how and why they have joined. The Prabhu conducting the seminar questioned “How do you know if Krishna is pleased?” There was silence for about 3-4 minutes. I was quietly chanting on my beads in the corner and I happened to hear that one question of the entire 45 minute seminar. Instantly my mind and heart were awake and a voice inside of me said “the only way to know if Krishna is pleased is to know whether Our Guru and Devotees are pleased”, and surely enough the Prabhu replied with the same response. Dear Guru Maharaj, your strength, your faith in ISKCON is a strong reflection of your devotion to His Divine Grace Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and the Supreme Lord Shree Shree Radha Krishna. We pray you continue to spread the message of Godhead and continue your path following in the footsteps of great Acharya’s without any impediments.

Our modern life style is a barren, deserted and isolated piece of land where it is almost impossible to find a shelter. However, glorious are all the souls who have finally taken your shelter, which is like an oasis in this scorching heat of material world. I am surely not qualified yet fortunate enough to have your shelter, as a desire tree, which fulfils my spiritual thirst. Maharaja, your whole life is inspirational. Events related to your life like your Vyasa Puja is most awaited, uplifting and motivating occasion for all of us. Seeing you seated on the special Asana/ Vyasa Asana is a treat to eyes. Hearing your learned words softly enter our ears and illuminate our hearts. Maharaja, your Vyasa Puja is not only a festival of joy and gratitude but also an exposure to see, feel and hear the love of all your devotees for you. Therefore, it educates me and keeps me motivated and committed to You, Srila Prabhupada and Lord Krishna. Srila Gurudev, we all know how merciful you are to all of us and specially me. You are showing us, by your own example, how we all should serve Srila Prabhupada's mission of presenting the Vedic Knowledge through His writings and teachings, to the fallen souls of this world. Even while staying in Kerala for regaining your health, you have started a preaching centre. As a part of your service to Your Guru Maharaj, Srila Prabhupada, You have helped the Fiji Temple project complete, which was conceived by, Your God brother late H H Tamal Krishna Goswami. This year you have pledged to offer all Laxmi you receive for Your Vyasapuja to the T O V P project for next seven years, again showing by your example for others, specially your disciples, to follow. With Your arrangement and instructions, we have taken guided tour of TOVP, two months ago. We may or may not get a chance to visit upon its completion. Following Your instructions I have started taking the “BHAKTI SHASTRI COURSE" and by your mercy I have successfully completed FOUR MODULES AND THE REST WILL COMPLETE BY YEAR END. This course certainly will help me, in understanding better, the many aspects of, Srila Prabhupada's teachings and help me in what little preaching I am involved. Maharaj, inspite of having your association for over three decades and accepting You, as my saviour fifteen years ago, I have not been progressing as much as I should have, but it is by Your mercy only I am hanging on, without falling down and are able to stay on this path. On this Holy appearance day of Yours (and every day) we pray the Lord to bless You with Long Healthy life, so that You may continue to assist Your Guru Maharaj,

Guru Maharaj you continuously preach throughout the world to please Srila Prabhupada and teach us how to please Guru and in turn Lord Krsna. During your recent trip to Brisbane I was reflecting on the compassion you provide by preaching to me specifically. You specifically emphasised Krsna's pleasure has to be our primary focus and that the entire jurisdiction of Krsna consciousness depends on relationship with Guru and Krsna. I realise I have a long way to go to develop my consciousness to this point however by your mercy I am making progress and my anarthas are diminishing. I appreciate the continued glance you compassionately cast over me and I am most grateful for the service opportunities you provide us.
