ANIMAYO 2012 El Festival Internacional de Cine de Animación, Efectos Especiales y Videojuegos Animayo, que desde hace seis años enmarca la primera semana de mayo como la fecha referente del cine de animación y efectos especiales de nuestras islas, y que mantiene como centro neurálgico el CICCA, vuelve a atraer a la ciudad de Las Palmas de Gran Ca- naria las miradas de festivales, escuelas, profesionales y aficionados de todo el mundo. La organización de Animayo presenta su programación 2012, la que será su séptima edición, que contendrá toda una semana repleta de proyecciones interancionales, mas- ter class de autentico lujo, talleres, ponencias, multiactividades e invitados internacio- nales de excepción que se desplazan hasta nuestra isla para fomentar la educación, la cultura, la economía y la industria del cine. Durante Animayo el público canario y cada vez más, asistentes provenientes de toda Es- paña, volverán a tener la ocasión de hacer un recorrido por la más actualizada selección de trabajos de animación y efectos especiales de artistas de todo el mundo. Encabezado por su director y productor Damián Perea, y contando con el apoyo institu- cional del Cabildo de Gran Canaria, la Sociedad de Promoción Económica de Gran Cana- ria, El Gobierno de Canarias, El Ayuntamiento de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Canarias Cultura en Red, El Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional, La Obra Social de La Caja de Canarias y numerosas empresas colaboradoras como Domingo Aonso o NH Hoteles, en- tre otras, Animayo se sigue consolidando como uno de los festivales de mayor prestigio a nivel internacional. En los últimos años el reconocimiento de Animayo se ha visto reforzado por haber sido invitado de honor en otros eventos internacionales de animación como: Animaizon (Za- ragoza), El BAC (Barcelona), El museo Gouda (Holanda), El museo del CAAC (Sevilla), La Cal Arts (Los Ángeles) y por haber tenido la oportunidad de promocionarnos también en Festivales tan importantes como el de Annecy. Además, el pasado mes de Noviembre, Animayo Itinerante fue presentado en la ciudad de Los Ángeles (California), convirtiéndose en el primer festival español que establece una base en el famoso “Beverly Hills” y presentado en las escuelas de animación de ma- yor prestigio. Esta puerta abierta del sector americano al Festival hace posible el acuer- do de una convocatoria anual de Animayo en Los Ángeles, concretamente en la sede de Egeda. Pero la itinerancia de Animayo no queda aquí, pues de cara al próximo año 2013, ha previsto establecerse también en otras ciudades como Madrid o Berlín. Por otro lado, la reciente e inesperada desaparición de festivales nacionales tan impor- tantes como Animadrid o Animacor, nos pone en una situación de responsabilidad en España, un hecho que nos solidariza con los organizadores y que a su vez nos incita y anima a seguir creciendo y a seguir mostrando un programa de prestigio que nos sitúe ahora como festival de referencia de nuestro país. En 2011 un total de 5.119 PARTICIPANTES y 93 estudiantes acreditados asistieron de forma regular y casi permanente a cada una de las ponencias, proyecciones y mas- ter class del Festival durante toda la semana. Animayo 2012 ofrece una programación mucho mas completa y formativa compuesta por más de 200 cortometrajes a concurso, 17 master class, cursos, talleres, exposi- ciones y 9 invitados internacionales de excepción, con la que el festival se ha propuesto llegar aun público cada vez mas joven para fomentar la formación a la tecnología audio- visual y a la animación. Para las secciones oficiales a concurso durante todo un año Perea ha visionado entre 1.500 y 1.600 trabajos procedentes de todos los continentes. Tras una exhaustiva se- lección, finalmente la programación de Animayo 2012 se compondrá por cortometrajes a concurso de autores y escuelas internacionales como Royal College, Filmakademie, Ensad, Cal Arts, Vancouver Film School, etc, y que se proyectarán en cinco bloques de sesiones los días 10, 11 y 12 de mayo. EL FESTIVAL. 80% de enfoque formativo Desde hace 3 años, estudiantes de la universidad y escuelas de las Islas de Gran Cana- ria, Tenerife, Lanzarote y Fuerteventura participan activamente en el festival, sumándose a las casi doscientas escuelas internacionales (como Filmakademie, Ensad, Royal Colle- ge, Cal Arts o Vancouver Film School) y cien productoras convocadas cada año y obte- niendo créditos de libre configuración por asistir a las clases y/o ponencias, mediante acreditaciones especiales para ellos con hasta un 70% de descuento. Una oferta que también es aplicada a desempleados. Además, el bono descuento incluirá ofertas en viajes, alojamientos, transportes, menús, comercios y locales de ocio de la zona. El cine es un factor determinante para el desarrollo económico de un país. A través de Animayo hemos creado un espacio audiovisual en Canarias para el cine de animación, efectos especiales y videojuegos en un momento en el que la industria del cine sigue siendo muy potente. Animayo no sólo es un espacio de expresión artística, sino un punto de encuentro tecno- lógico puesto a disposición de la industria; todo partiendo del buen momento que vive la animación y enfocado hacia el desarrollo económico y la formación. En general podemos decir que la industria del cine en Canarias es relativamente fuerte y creativamente muy rica, aunque requiere seguir abriendo puertas hacia la mejora de la distribución en Europa y otros continentes. El cine de animación y efectos especiales es un factor de desarrollo europeo, social, industrial y económico. Situar Animayo dentro de la agenda de otros países puede contribuir no sólo a acelerar la recuperación econó- mica de nuestra región y a la formación y creación de empleo, sino que también fortale- cerá la unidad artística. PÚBLICO OBJETIVO POR EDADES: PROGRAMACIÓN ANIMAYO 2012 1. Sección de animacion para Adultos Las técnicas de animación más artesanales se fusionarán con la alta tecnología y la van- guardia en un amplio ciclo de proyecciones que incluirá: • La “Sección oficial a Concurso de autores y escuelas internacionales” (Royal College, Ensad, Filmakademie, Eesa, Cal Arts o Vancouver, entre otros). SEC- CIONES A CONCURSO I, II, III, IV y V. Compuesta por una depurada selección de cortometrajes. 1. Premio mejor película 2. Premio del público 3. Premio mejor cortometraje 3D 4. Premio a la mejor animación española 5. Premio mejor cortometraje de humor 6. Premio del director al mejor trabajo de escuela 7. Menciones especiales • Grandes Clasicos del Anime con la proyección de “Ghost in the Shell” y “Aki- ra” en Full HD. • Especial Agencias de Publicidad. Dedicaremos un espacio con recopilación de spots publicitarios y videoclips de reconocidas agencias internacionales. • Sección Especial de Cine de Animación Español. “Animación con Ñ”. • “La Noche Dos Rombos” Los cortos de animación más picantes no aptos para menores. • Especial AUTORES INDEPENDIENTES. Animayo 2012 mantiene un año más su Programa de Intercambio, cuya finalidad es la de favorecer los lazos de unión entre escuelas y festivales y crear sinergias con otros países y culturas. A través de este programa representantes de escuelas internaciona- les de animación muestras sus trabajos e imparten una master class a los aficionados y profesionales canarios. Con esta misma filosofía abrimos las puertas a Festivales Invitados para que cada año el festival seleccionado pueda mostrar lo mejor de su pro- gramación tal y como venimos haciendo con el espacio de productoras y agencias de publicidad. Este año Animayo cuenta por primera vez con “Cut Out”, una selección que ha llevado a cabo este festival Mexicano en primicia para Animayo. 2. ARTISTAS INTERNACIONALES INVITADOS ALEXANDER PETROV Petrov nació en la aldea de Prechistoye (Óblast de Yaros- lavl) y vive en Yaroslavl (Ru- sia). Estudió arte en VGIK (instituto estatal de cine y TV). Fue dis- cípulo de Yuriy Norshteyn en la Escuela Superior de guio- nistas y directores (Moscú). Después de hacer sus prime- ras películas en Rusia, en Ca- nadá ha adaptado la novela El viejo y el mar, dando lugar a un cortometraje de animación de 20 minutos - el primero de gran formato en películas de animación que jamás se ha hecho. Técnicamente impresionante, la película está hecha en pastel óleo sobre vidrio, una técnica dominada por sólo un puñado de animadores en el mundo. Mediante el uso de sus dedos en lugar de un pincel en las diferentes hojas de vidrio colocado en múltiples niveles, cada uno de ellos cubierto con un retardante de se- cado de las pinturas de aceite, fue capaz de añadir profundidad a sus pinturas. Después de fotografiar cada uno de los cuadros pintados en las hojas de vidrio, (cuatro veces ma- yor que el habitual formato A4). Le tomó a Aleksandr Petrov más de dos años, a partir de marzo de 1997 a abril de 1999, en pintar cada uno de los 29.000 marcos. La pelícu- la fue muy aclamada, recibiendo el premio de la Academia de Cine Corto de Animación y en el Gran Premio de Annecy Internacional de Cine de Animación. Posteriormente regresó a Yaroslavl en Rusia para trabajar en su última película, My Love, que fue terminada en la primavera de 2006 después de tres años de trabajo. Se estrenó en el Festival Internacional de Animación de Hiroshima el 27 de agosto, donde ganó el Premio del Público y Premio Especial del Jurado Internacional. El 17 de marzo de 2007, mi amor se presentó en el cine Angelika, en Shibuya (Japón) patrocinado por el Studio Ghibli, como la primer versión de películas de animación occidental en el “ Mu- seo Biblioteca Ghibli”. Por su parte, la caligrafía se relaciona con el dibujo y la pintura por la gestualidad del trazo, ese índice tan significativo del signo plástico en arte y comunicación visual. Además, la caligrafía tiene un lugar diferenciado en la historia del diseño gráfico y la escritura. Grangel Studio crea personajes y estilos gráficos para DreamWorks, Sony Animation o Warner Bros, en los que la caligrafía tiene un papel relevante. Con ese marco teórico y referentes, el artículo indaga cómo la caligrafía participa en el estilo de las películas, con el caso paradigmático de Corpse Bride (2005), donde las caligrafías del filme y promociones, junto al dibujo de personajes, colaboran con el universo del relato, afín a las recreaciones neogóticas del director Tim Burton.     The Art of “Including Art” in Animation: DreamWorks’ Intertextual Games for All Rebeca Cristina López González. Universidad de Vigo, Spain. [email protected] Abstract Art forms become interrelated when intertextual phenomena occur. The choice of previous art forms to create humour may seem to be a playful game, but it is the result of many kinds of inserted messages. Fourteen animated feature films by DreamWorks have been analysed and classified in depth (by using Sebeok’s (1986) intertextual categories, which were also described by Hatim & Mason (1990)), in order to demonstrate how animation is an art that encompasses other artistic productions. Firstly, art and animation will be defined in order to, secondly, use the corpus to exemplify the intertextual connections from other art forms. Lastly, the final quantitative and qualitative results will substantiate the conclusion that these productions by DreamWorks are an example of artistic cinematographic intertextuality. Key words: animation, intertextuality, art forms, Children’s Literature.. Resumen Las formas artísticas se interrelacionan cuando se pone en práctica el fenómeno intertextual. El uso de formas artísticas previas para crear humor puede parecer un juego pero es el resultado de la inserción de varios tipos de mensajes en un texto/discurso. Se analizan y clasifican en profundidad catorce películas de animación creadas por DreamWorks (se emplea para ello las categorías intertextuales propuestas por Sebeok (1986) descritas, a su vez, por Hatim & Mason (1990)), con el propósito de demostrar cómo la animación es un arte que engloba a otras producciones artísticas. En primer lugar, se definen los conceptos de arte y animación para, acto seguido, mostrar mediante el corpus cuáles son las conexiones intertextuales que provienen de otras formas artísticas.
