Interests Hill-walking and climbing.

Running; as an undergraduate I represented Cambridge both on the track and at cross-country. I have continued running ever since, although getting gradually slower – I was in the winning Trinity College team in the St Edmund Hall road relays in 1964, ran for Jesus in the 1970s, and ran for Nuffield most recently in 2008.
