Brief Report of the Webinar
The Department of Zoology organized One Day National Webinar on “Evolution of Virus from General to COVID-19”on 24/06/2020. We have brought resource persons from various institutes of Karnataka. Resource persons are specialized in the field of Virology,Immunology,Physiology. The Keynote address was given by Dr.C.R.Patil, Professor, Institute of Organic Farming,UAS Dharwad.He explained about the history of viruses,how they evolved, general characters of viruses. He also emphasisED on Causes of respiratory diseases. session – I , another eminent guest speaker, Dr. Mutteneni Radhakrishna Assistant Professor (Senior scale) Virus Research Lab,Departement of Zoology,Osmania University,Hydrabad .He delivered talk on SARS-COV-2Genomic,Epidemiology&Vaccine Development.Also how the SARS virus evolved to COVID.origin of COVID virus ,risk factor of this virus&how the vaccine development is in progress.What is present scenario of virus in India.He shown data bases of COVID Cases at present. session – II , One more speaker Dr.Vijay kumar Malashetty Professor,Chairman Department of Zoology,Vijayanagar Sri KrishnaDevaray University, Ballari. He spoke about Drug discovery and development for COVID-19. He emphasised on steps of drug discovery,what are the metods/process of drug development.what is situation of drug discorey in India. Out of 238 registration 202 participants particiapted. The all sessions were remarkable and usefull in enhancing students and faculty knowlegde
