The Grade 7s participated in the black and white poetry contest. Karlee Patrie won 1st place, Shannon Arbon-Stensrud won 2nd place, and Liam Cameron won 3rd place. The Grade 8s participated in the poetry contest. Jerica Chetney won 1st place, Bailee Kowalchuk won 2nd place, and Amelia Cameron won 3rd place. Legion representatives Annette Short and Jason Hill awarded students in each place with prizes on behalf of the Ryley Legion. A special thank you to the ley Legion and to all those who supported Ryley School students in this contest to remember and honour the sacrifices made by Canadians. Congratulations to the Senior Boys Basketball Team for winning the Quint School Tournament on the week- end. The Boys started off with a 110-41 win over Tofield then in the quarter final beat Wainwright 100-75. In the semi they defeated New Norway 70-58 and then beat Hay Lakes 83-71 to win the 22nd Annual Tournament. Congratulations boys! Also congratulations to Tianna Ligard and Shyanne Middleton as their Senior Girls combined team with Hay Lakes and Cornerstone placed 4th in the girls portion of the Quint School Tournament. Student Katie Hrabec receives a $250.00 cheque from Andre’ Nimchuk of the Ryley Lion’s Club to help subsidize her trip to Ottawa with Encounter’s With Canada. Katie will be staying at the Terry Fox Centre in Ottawa where she will be in the Sports & Fitness week. Three other students, Hannah Chetney, Taylor Chomik and Quinten Albrecht will also be going to Ottawa later in the month attending the week focusing on Agricultural Technologies. RYLEY GRAD 2020: The grad class would like to thank all those who helped make our bottle drive on January 25 a success! We were able to raise $2500.00! The Little Caesars Pizza orders will be delivered to the school on Thursday, February 6, 2020. Please ensure your orders are picked up by the end of the school day. The next fundraiser will be Vesey's Seeds to be sold the latter part of February, or early March. Details to come! The 2020 Grad class will be ordering hoodies on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at the lunch break (11:48 am) in the Learning Commons Area. ALL grads NEED to attend to order sizes and agree on a design. Remember formal grad pictures are Thursday, February 20, 2020 at the school. Each grad is to sign up for a specific time. Our next parent / grad meeting will be Monday, February 24, 2020 in the Learning Commons Area at 6:00 pm.
