Blackberry Smoke It's only rock & roll | Pep Saña | Actualitzat el 02/08/2015 a les 19:29 BLACKBERRY SMOKE Amb el motllo del southern rock de Lynyrd Skynyrd, una bona dosi de 'outlaw honky tonk country' i una mica de bluegrass, gospel i R&B tot barrejat, Charlie Starr (veu i guitarra), Paul Jackson (guitarra), Richard Turner (baix), Brandon Still (teclats) i Brit Turner (bateria) formen Blackberry Smoke a Atlanta, Geòrgia, el 2000. Blackberry Smoke saben molt bé què es treballar dur, tocar 250 dates cada any, i estar sempre a la carretera. Han fet gires i amistat amb mites del southern rock com The Marshall Tucker Band, ZZ Top (Billy Gibbons va tocar amb ells en un show a Florida), Zac Brown Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd i The Allman Brothers Band entre d'altres, i han girat per Europa tres vegades. Abstract approved:_____________________________________________________ Ryann Reynolds-McIlnay The rise of digital streaming has largely impacted the way the average listener consumes music. Consequentially, while the role of album art has evolved to meet the changes in music technology, it is hard to measure the effect of digital streaming on modern album art. This research seeks to determine whether or not graphic design still plays a role in marketing information about the music, such as its genre, to the consumer. It does so through two studies: 1. A computer visual analysis that measures color dominance of an image, and 2. A mixed-design lab experiment with volunteer participants who attempt to assess the genre of a given album. Findings from the first study show that color scheme models created from album samples cannot be used to predict the genre of an album. Further findings from the second theory show that consumers pay a significant amount of attention to album covers, enough to be able to correctly assess the genre of an album most of the time.

Den 17 februari släpper bandet sin nya platta The Whippoorwill i Europa genom Earache Records. Blackberry Smoke har varit aktiva som band sedan år 2000 och turnerat tillsammans med bland andra Zac Brown Band, ZZ Top, George Jones och Lynyrd Skynyrd. Genom aktivt turnerande i hemlandet och flera svängar i Europa har bandet svetsats samman till en grad som gör det omöjligt för nya ögonvittnen att inte kapitulera inför deras tunga och innehållsrika sydsatsrock. Sedan starten har Blackberry Smoke släppt tre stycken studioalbum, två EP's och en live-DVD. I fjol knockades vi av den senaste plattan The Whippoorwill som gavs ut i USA av countrysuperstjärnan Zac Browns bolag Southern Ground. Albumet befäste Blackberry Smoke som ett av genrens mest kvalitativa och intressanta band och tog dom högt på Billboardlistan och den 17 februari släpps The Whippoorwill i en europeisk utgåva med bonusspår. Räkna med att temperaturen kring bandet kommer att höjas ytterligare i och med detta. Charlie Starr (sång, gitarr), Richard Turner (bas, sång), Brit Turner (trummor), Paul Jackson (gitarr, sång) och Brandon Still (keyboard). Detta är kvintetten vars musik bildat en smältdegel för jordens alla möjliga olika människor och musiksmaker. Bandets nära vän Chris Robinson från Black Crowes kom upp med namnet på bandet och man har dessutom på Slash egen begäran agerat kompband till honom på en privat spelning.
