But then I thought: ‘These wonderful grapes and this amazing area should be enhanced, they should not end up inside a large jug.’ So I started studying, from books and through close interactions with others. I am a self-taught winemaker, indeed. I absorb like a sponge. I think you should learn by gaining knowledge from people you are close to. I have been asking for advice and made the right questions to the people I know, I read a lot and researched and made so many experiments. The world of oenology has drawn me in. The input dataset is made by ground motion recordings of 348 events occurred during the sequence. The spectral site response is estimated by the Generalized Inversion Technique and makes use of reference sites. The interpretation is further improved through the information provided by a reference-site independent method (i.e., the so called Receiver-Function Technique) and by the Horizontal-to-Vertical Spectral Ratios of ambi- ent noise recordings. We also provide an independent estimate of the local amplifcation by comparing the Peak Ground Velocity and the Spectral Amplitudes observed at each site to the value estimated by well-established Ground Motion Prediction Equations for a rock-class site. The results obtained by the adopted methodologies are all highly con- sistent, and they emphasize the diferent seismic behavior of several sites at local scale. Thus, sites located on Quaternary deposits overlying the bedrock, such as Castro, Pretare, Spelonga, Pescara del Tronto, and Capodacqua feature some relevant amplifcations in a medium (2–10 Hz) frequency range; two sites at Spelonga show amplifcations also at low frequencies; three sites located on stif formations, i.e.

In una stanza al primo piano erano invece in conversazione don Delfino, don Secondo Funari e Pasquale Spinucci, sfollato con la famiglia da Grottammare.

(IT ISSN 0394-3356, 2005). have been in the past the subject of several studies by different Authors; mentioned in classical scripts, they have been treated more in detail starting from the 17th century in naturalistic studies published by Scientific Academies or Cultural Associations. In the Marchean region, these phenomena have been observed only in the peri-Adriatic sector where Pliocene and Pleistocene forma- tions crop out; they are well represented with respect to typology, number and extension. The present paper proposes several strategies for their preservation and protection: in particular these aim to avoid the characteristic morphologies, produced by leaking mud (also several times per year in some cases), being suddenly demolished by anthropic or natu- ral agents. Mud leakage generally occurs on a flat surface called “piano della salsa” prevalently on a thalweg or along a very gentle portion of the slope. Typical, in mud volcano morphology, is the presence of one or more cones of different height and extension with emission of mud with different fluidity; sometimes natural boundaries exist and the leakage remains confined inside a depression, but in other cases the mud emissions can reach the hydrographic network.
