We wish them both well and look forward to a successful and productive coming year. We have already commenced the gradual upgrading of our street lighting system (the ones owned by the Community Council) and this will be a ‘rolling’ project. This is intended to improve the footway lighting, whilst also reducing electricity and maintenance costs - with fitting longer lasting LED. As was reported in the spring edition, there are a number of ongoing projects, slowly moving forward, but at least they are moving. Our collaboration with Cadwyn Clwyd regarding the Penygelli fields project, has successfully passed the first hurdle and we are moving forward with a theme of ‘Health and Well-being in the Heart of Our Community.’ The committee at the heart of this is working tirelessly to achieve successful completion of stage two. We are also striving to improve the facilities within the Parish Hall, whereby it may be open to all, for an enormous number of new events and activities and to improve the exterior appearance of the building, making it far more appealing as it is approached from the roadway. However, we are still hearing on a very regular basis, the ‘stinky’ issue of dog fouling! It has to be said, the majority of responsible dog owners pick it up and bin it. To those people we say well done and thank you. To the small minority of dog owners who do not follow this ‘code of conduct,' we have to hope, that if are reading this item your skin tone has just turned a nice shade of ‘blush’ and a sense of guilt and shame may have just entered your thought process! Come on people! It is not rocket science, have some respect for your community, fellow residents and the environment. You will earn the silent respect of other walkers, when you are seen carrying a bag full of poop en-route to the nearest bin. If you don’t want to follow the code, go and live in a city somewhere, where people have nothing more beautiful to look at other than a ‘concrete jungle’ consisting of housing and office blocks — and not a field or pasture in sight! Don’t spoil our gorgeous landscape, just because you cannot be bothered to pick it up! Nightingale House: Sunshine Meadow, Chirk Castle, LL14 5AE between 15 June 2019 and 14 July 2019. Celebrate the life of someone you love this summer, with an everlasting Nightingale sunflower, kindly produced by the Brit- ish Ironwork Centre. Donate a sunflower for £25. Flowers will be displayed on the Stable Bank at the National Trust’s Chirk Castle from 15 June to 14 July 2019. Following the conclusion of the display, each sunflower will be carefully prepared with your certificate, ready to collect from September onwards — making them a perfect keepsake for your gardens for many years. Your certificate will contain the name for whom it was dedicated. Nightingale House would like to thank each and every one of you for your continued support.
