Zelfs nu prijkt Bohemian Rhapsody nog regelmatig op 1 bij de Top Elton John vond het nummer veel te lang en te raar voor de radio, toen de manager van Queen het hem voor het eerst liet horen. Hij had die tekst, maar nog geen melodie. Die volgde pas later, in Het had weinig gescheeld of het nummer had heel anders geheten. Freddie Mercury dacht veel aan het oude westen bij de tekst voor Bohemian Rhapsody , daarom noemde hij het altijd The Cowboy Song. Uiteindelijk waren er drie weken en vijf verschillende studio's nodig om het nummer af te maken en Mercury er van te overtuigen dat het genoeg was. De band kwam om De clipopnames kostten in totaal rond de pond. Het was de eerste clip die regisseur Bruce Gowers maakte en het betekende zijn doorbraak in Hollywood. Speciaal voor de allerlaatste noot van Bohemian Rhapsody werd er een gong aan Roger Taylor's drumstel bevestigd. Het gevaarte was 1,5 meter groot en moest voor ieder optreden schoongemaakt, ingepakt en opgezet worden. En dat alleen zodat Taylor er één keer op kon slaan aan het einde van het nummer. De heilige graal onder verzamelitems van Queen is de 7-inch limited edition van Bohemian Rhapsody gedrukt op blauw vinyl. Er werden in maar van gemaakt ter ere van een gewonnen award.

Austrian Queen Fan Club Vienna WIENER GESCHICHTEN – QUEEN UND FREDDIE MERCURY IN WIEN Besondere, enge Beziehung zu Wien Queen und Freddie Mercury hatten schon immer eine ganz besondere, enge Beziehung zu Wien. Dies zeigt sich dadurch, dass sie auf ihren Tourneen immer wieder in Wien spielten, einige Promotion-Videos in Wien drehten und auch sonst sehr mit der Stadt verbunden waren. Live In Vienna Queen spielten mit Freddie sieben Mal in Wien, mit Paul Rodgers zwei Mal und mit dem neuen Gastsänger Adam Lambert ist für den 01.02.2015 wieder eine Liveshow in der Wiener Stadthalle geplant. Auch wenn Freddie Mercury nicht mehr mit der Band auf der Bühne stehen kann, gibt es keine Queen + Show ohne ihn. Freddie singt am Videoscreen „Love Of My Life“ und „Bohemian Rhapsody“ und ist in Foto- und Videozuspielungen während der Show immer wieder präsent. Das erste Mal in Wien Queen spielten das erste Mal bei der „News Of The World-Tour“ am 02.05.1978 in der Stadthalle. Das Highlight war eine lange Version von „Spread Your Wings“, welche Freddie mit „You call it Wien – we call it Vienna!” ankündigte. Hot Space in Vienna 4 Jahre später spielten Queen wieder in Wien. Diesmal jedoch bereits zwei Mal in der ausverkauften Stadthalle. Das Doppelkonzert der „Hot Space Tour“ fand am 12. und 13.05.1982 statt. Bei diesem Wienaufenthalt bezogen Queen vorerst das Hotel Intercontinental, wechselten jedoch sofort ins Hotel Imperial. Dort entstand ein berühmtes Promofoto mit Spiegeln und Kristallluster. Könige im Bild und Ton Der Showbeginn am 12.05.1982 in der Stadthalle mit „Flash“ sowie die Zugaben "Another One Bites The Dust (Freddie im Bademantel) / We Will Rock You / We Are The Champions / God Save The Queen" wurden von DoRo Productions - besser bekannt als das Wiener Videoproduzenten-Duo Rudi Dolezal und Hannes Rossacher - gefilmt.

Freddie suddenly appearing on the big screen, causing everyone in the audience to audibly gasp, and shed a few tears! BRILLIANT drum solo between Roger and his son Rufus, such power and such a fan- LONG SERVING MEMBERS: tastic connection between them, LOVED it! The lights STUART FRANKLIN - Yorkshire (28 years!) were amazing, the smoke/dry ice and the giant fl a- JANE DAVIS - Leamington Spa (20 years!) mes were brilliant! They say that dead men tell no tales. That does not, however, mean that they stop releasing new records. Posthumous albums have been an inevitable and often tragic staple throughout pop music history. Sessions that weren’t initially released because of legal complications, live albums and rehearsal takes have long been considered fair game for fans who continually crave more music from their favorite artists after they have died. The advent of CDs, and then of deluxe reissues and box sets, led to a widespread cleaning of the vaults from countless artists who weren’t still around to offer their own opinions. A different tradition, though, has also emerged over the years, which involves the estates or the surviving members of a band opting to add overdubs to incomplete tracks and put them out as new music. Next week, two of the biggest-selling groups in rock history — Pink Floyd and Queen — will release albums that are being presented as their first new material in decades. The public’s interest hasn’t waned: In Britain, Amazon announced that Pink Floyd’s “The Endless River” is on track to become the most pre-ordered album of all time, potentially surpassing One Direction’s 2013 “Midnight Memories.” “Queen Forever” is coming out in the middle of the band’s wildly successful world tour, with Adam Lambert taking Freddie Mercury’s spot as lead vocalist, in front of the guitarist Brian May and the drummer Roger Taylor.
