We revisited the design of G Gate following feedback from the consultations before planning permission for the masterplan was granted. Working with a new theatre production company, we found a design solution that means we can accommodate our future tenant and rotate the building 180 degrees.

This means that the wall facing Hammersmith Road will no longer be the back of the theatre but the public areas of the building and, as a result, we have been able to break up the façade up with windows and activity.

Original Scheme West Hall

Since submitting the Section 73 application, we have made further changes to the internal layout of West Hall based on continued conversations with the prospective tenant.

In the coming months, we will be seeking to extend the opening hours of the West Hall Venue up to 1am to enable the operator to host occasional VIP and corporate events. The entrance and exit to West Hall will be accessed from within the masterplan area, as shown below, to minimise disruption to neighbours.

The facade design of the multi storey car park has evolved following detailed conversations with the new operator. The architecture retains the curves of the previous design but has been simplified and acknowledges the building’s art deco heritage.

Bicycle Masterplan S73 APG Scooting Construction Update

Construction for the Future Olympia project continues to progress to schedule. We have adapted our ways of working to ensure that our contractors are able to work safely and abide by social distancing measures. This has meant that some elements of the build have taken longer to complete but we have been able to compensate for this by advancing works in other areas while the exhibition business has been closed. Overall we remain on track.
