Strand Cinema (Available year round)
The Strand Theatre opened in 1929 with 980 seats. The red brick façade is Neo- Georgian or Federal Revival, with an old-fashioned boxy marquee. The main entrance below the marquee features a ticket booth. On either side of the main entrance are retail spaces. On the second floor are three sets of three windows. The Strand Theatre, today known as the Strand Cinema, was recently refurbished and two additional screens seating 175 each have been added. Snow tubing is a great winter activity, perfect for families and groups. No special skills are needed and we provide the snow tubes. Just dress warm, wear sturdy footwear, and be ready for some excitement. Our tube tow pulls you to the top of the slope on your tube. Then hold on for a fast rolling ride down one of our 500 foot tube chutes. It’s all the thrill of sledding on a big hill without needing to walk back up. Lakewood Golf Course (Open during summer)
An 18 hole par 72 course located in the upper Kennebec Valley on Route 201 in Madison, just outside of Skowhegan, Maine. Built in the early 1920’s as part of the Lakewood Colony summer resort the original nine has a classic links feel and a good balance between challenge and playability. The back nine, designed by Phil Wogan and completed in 1995, is a parkland course cut out of the thick Maine woods. Our beautiful, meticulously maintained course combines will-designed holes, including Maine’s only Par 6, with amazing scenery to give you a great golfing experience. The Carroll family welcomes you to the only campground in Skowhegan, Maine. Two Rivers Campground is located on the banks of the Kennebec River and Wesserunsett Stream. You’ll find plenty of activities to do here, or if you prefer nothing at all, the choice is yours. You may want to go fishing or boating in the river, swim in the pool, play horseshoes, or just sit by a cozy camp fire and cook marshmallows. We can accommodate any size camper or motor home and offer up to 50 amp service. Our sites are level as well as grassy and offer a combination of sun and shade. Abnaki Camping ground brings you close to nature on the shore of 7 mile long Lake Wesserunsett. All 100 sites are convenient to the Abnaki Grocery Store.
