This is the second time that GSMM 2021 is held in Nanjing since its inception in 2008 in Nanjing, China. The GSMM2021 was eshtablished for researchers, engineers and practitioners to present and discuss recent breakthroughs, innovations and emerging techniques in field of millimeter-wave and terahertz sensing and communications. Following the success of first GSMM 2021 event, Nanjing, China (2008), Sendai, Japan (2009), Seoul, South Korea (2010), Espoo, Finland (2011), Harbin, China (2012), Sendai, Japan (2013), Seoul, South Korea (2014), Montreal, Canada (2015) and Espoo, Finland (2016), Hongkong, China(2017), Colorado, America(2018) and Sendai. Japan(2019). The 13th GSMM 2021 is held at Nanjing, a most vibrant city with historical and cultural glory, located at the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone next to Shanghai with world- class electronic industry and research centers. This Symposium will feature round 122 presentations during the three-day event, and the presentations cover a wide spectrum of topics ranging in millimeter-wave and terahertz sensing and communications. Your valued presence and contributions to the GSMM 2021 has made the event a good networking platform for exchanging of ideas and innovations. The research is to design and implement the speaker independent speech recognition home system, and the final function achieves the recognition of isolated words. Through the module function integration, the speech recognition module LD3320 and the development board OK6410-A are connected. The results are processed, analyzed and judged after the speech module recognition results have been received by the ARM processor. Then the processor calls its own module function to indicate the recognition results. The program is implemented by C language in cross system compiler under Linux system. The downloading program is completed by the debugging function of the uboot. The opening and closing of the LED and the buzzer on the development board is completed by using 4 simple speech commands, including "kai deng", "la ba", "guan deng" and "fou jue". Then the intelligent home environment was simulated by 10 complex speech commands, including "wo shi", "chu fang", "ke ting", "dian shi" and so on.     TRAMES, 2012, 16(66/61), 3, 237–285 OFFICIAL COLOURS OF CHINESE REGIMES: A PANCHRONIC PHILOLOGICAL STUDY WITH HISTORICAL ACCOUNTS OF CHINA Jingyi Gao Institute of the Estonian Language, University of Tartu, and Tallinn University Abstract. The paper reports a panchronic philological study on the official colours of Chinese regimes. The historical accounts of the Chinese regimes are introduced. The official colours are summarised with philological references of archaic texts. Remarkably, it has been suggested that the official colours of the most ancient regimes should be the three primitive colours: (1) white-yellow, (2) black-grue yellow, and (3) red-yellow, instead of the simple colours. There were inconsistent historical records on the official colours of the most ancient regimes because the composite colour categories had been split. It has solved the historical problem with the linguistic theory of composite colour categories. Besides, it is concluded how the official colours were determined: At first, the official colour might be naturally determined according to the substance of the ruling population. There might be three groups of people in the Far East. (1) The developed hunter gatherers with livestock preferred the white-yellow colour of milk. (2) The farmers preferred the red-yellow colour of sun and fire. (3) The herders preferred the black-grue-yellow colour of water bodies. Later, after the Han-Chinese consolidation, the official colour could be politically determined according to the main property of the five elements in Sino-metaphysics. The red colour has been predominate in China for many reasons. Organophosphate esters (OPEs) are contaminants of emerging concernemerging 11 contaminants in recent years and studies concluded that urban areascenters were a significant source of 12 OPEs. Samples were collected from six ground-based sites located in Chengdu, a typical fast 13 developing metropolitan of southwest China and were analyzed for seven OPEs in atmospheric PM2.5. -3 14 The concentrations of Σ7 OPEs in PM2.5 ranged from 5.83 to 6.91 ng· m , with a mean of 6.6 ± 3.3 15 ng· m-3, and the primary pollutants were TBEP, TnBP, TCEP and TCPP which together made up more 16 than 80% in the Σ7 OPEs. The concentrations of Σ7 OPEs were higher in autumn/winter than that in 17 summer. Nonparametric test showed that there was no significant difference in Σ7 OPEs concentrations 18 among the six sampling sites, but the occurrence of unexpected high level of individual OPEs at 19 different sites in autumn might indicate that there was a noteworthy emission. Very strong correlation 2 20 (R = 0.98, p<0.01) between the OPEs in soil and in PM2.5 was observedsuggested the atmospheric 21 PM2.5 settlement is an important source of OPEs in soil.

Dynamics of Disintegration: The Later Han Empire (25-220CE) & Its Northwestern Frontier Abstract As a frontier region of the Qin-Han (221BCE-220CE) empire, the northwest was a new territory to the Chinese realm. Until the Later Han (25-220CE) times, some portions of the northwestern region had only been part of imperial soil for one hundred years. Its coalescence into the Chinese empire was a product of long-term expansion and conquest, which arguably defined the egionr 's military nature. Furthermore, in the harsh natural environment of the region, only tough people could survive, and unsurprisingly, the region fostered vigorous warriors. Mixed culture and multi-ethnicity featured prominently in this highly militarized frontier society, which contrasted sharply with the imperial center that promoted unified cultural values and stood in the way of a greater degree of transregional integration. As this project shows, it was the northwesterners who went through a process of political peripheralization during the Later Han times played a harbinger role of the disintegration of the empire and eventually led to the breakdown of the early imperial system in Chinese history.

Whole-brain reconstruction of neuron morphology is even more challenging as it involves processing tens of teravoxels of imaging data. Validating such reconstructions is extremely laborious. We develop TeraVR, an open-source virtual reality annotation system, to address these challenges. TeraVR integrates immersive and collaborative 3-D visualization, interaction, and hierarchical streaming of teravoxel-scale images.   • Chinese Public Diplomacy: the Rise of the Confucius Institute / Falk Hartig
    Chinese Public Diplomacy This book presents the first comprehensive analysis of Confucius Institutes (CIs), situating them as a tool of public diplomacy in the broader context of China’s foreign affairs. The study establishes the concept of public diplomacy as the theoretical framework for analysing CIs. By applying this frame to in- depth case studies of CIs in Europe and Oceania, it provides in-depth knowledge of the structure and organisation of CIs, their activities and audiences, as well as problems, chal- lenges and potentials. In addition to examining CIs as the most prominent and most controversial tool of China’s charm offensive, this book also explains what the structural configuration of these Institutes can tell us about China’s under- standing of and approaches towards public diplomacy. The study demonstrates that, in contrast to their international counterparts, CIs are normally organised as joint ventures between international and Chinese partners in the field of educa- tion or cultural exchange. From this unique setting a more fundamental observa- tion can be made, namely China’s willingness to engage and cooperate with foreigners in the context of public diplomacy. Overall, the author argues that by utilising the current global fascination with Chinese language and culture, the Chinese government has found interested and willing international partners to co- finance the CIs and thus partially fund China’s international charm offensive. This book will be of much interest to students of public diplomacy, Chinese politics, foreign policy and international relations in general.
