I The Sword non dimenticano MAI chi comanda e dopo la bella “To Take The Black”, tributano 3 minuti e 58 secondi di applausi ai Black Sabbath teletrasportando l’ascoltatore direttamente negli anni 70. State ascoltando “Maiden, Mother and Crone”, i pezzo più settantiano e “doom” del disco. Assolo voto 10+. “Under The Boughs” si candida alla palma di “pezzo col miglior ritornello del disco”, forse il pezzo più in linea con i The Sword prima maniera. L’album(purtroppo) si conclude con l’accoppiata “The black river”-“The White Sea”, i due brani più lunghi dell’intero album, il primo più energico e groovy, il secondo più pesante e lento, due brani complementari che spiegano perfettamente i The Sword a 360°. Gods Of The Earth è un notevole passo in avanti sotto tutti i punti di vista. ::: PROMORAMA ::: PRESS ::: BAND: THE SWORD TITLE: GODS OF THE EARTH LABEL: KEMADO PAG. 10 LOUDVISION http://www.loudvision.it/musica_recensioni-the-sword-gods-of-the-earth--2079.html Il problema coi The Sword è capire dove vogliano andare a parare.

  • Riff-Eufori Med Heavy-Bandet the Sword I VEGA

The Waning Sword E Conversion Imagery and Celestial Myth in Beowulf DWARD The Waning Sword Conversion Imagery and EDWARD PETTIT P The image of a giant sword mel ng stands at the structural and thema c heart of the Old ETTIT Celestial Myth in Beowulf English heroic poem Beowulf. This me culously researched book inves gates the nature and signifi cance of this golden-hilted weapon and its likely rela ves within Beowulf and beyond, drawing on the fi elds of Old English and Old Norse language and literature, liturgy, archaeology, astronomy, folklore and compara ve mythology. In Part I, Pe t explores the complex of connota ons surrounding this image (from icicles to candles and crosses) by examining a range of medieval sources, and argues that the giant sword may func on as a visual mo f in which pre-Chris an Germanic concepts and prominent Chris an symbols coalesce. In Part II, Pe t inves gates the broader Germanic background to this image, especially in rela on to the god Ing/Yngvi-Freyr, and explores the capacity of myths to recur and endure across me. Drawing on an eclec c range of narra ve and linguis c evidence from Northern European texts, and on archaeological discoveries, Pe t suggests that the T image of the giant sword, and the characters and events associated with it, may refl ect HE an elemental struggle between the sun and the moon, ar culated through an underlying W myth about the the and repossession of sunlight. ANING The Waning Sword: Conversion Imagery and Celesti al Myth in Beowulf is a welcome contribu on to the overlapping fi elds of Beowulf-scholarship, Old Norse-Icelandic literature and Germanic philology.

Kennedy Plaza Is Heating Up Most people think of the beach when they think of summer, but not this city gal! Simply walking downtown on a sunny day puts me in a great mood. So it’s no surprise that I can’t wait for the Downtown Providence Parks and Conservancy (DPPC) summer series when it once again combines some of my favorite things: education, performance and food trucks! Let’s begin with Downtown Tuesdays, running July 5 – October 25 from 3 – 6pm. Downtown Tuesdays combines the Downtown Farmers Market with Farm Fresh RI, and the Kidoinfo Play in the Park. Family- friendly activities, performances and a play space truly make nutritional food fun for kids. What better way to promote healthy eating? Will this get my kid to eat his veggies? I’m not sure, but I’m willing to give it a try! What makes this year’s Downtown Tuesdays different from last is that Jennifer Smith of the DPPC upped the ante with special performances peppered into the schedule. On July 26 and August 23 there will be Open Drum Circles with Sidy Maiga, which provides not only an opportunity to see a professional musician hone their craft, but an opportunity to create with a professional musician. Of course the fun doesn’t end with Tuesdays; Kidoinfo Storytime and Art in The Park will once again run on Thursdays from July 7 – August 18 from 10am – 12:30pm. Each year, the Art in the Park theme changes to correspond with a children’s book to ensure that children will find a love for stories through art.
