Station Travel Plan Yarm ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Introduction What is a Station Travel Plan? The Department for Transport defines as Station Travel Plan as: ‘A strategy for managing the travel generated by your organisation, with the aim of reducing its environmental impact, typically involving support for walking, cycling, public transport and car sharing’ Over the next two years, TransPennine Express is undertaking Station Travel Plans for the 19 stations where they are currently the Station Facility Owner (SFO). Why Develop a Station Travel Plan? Demand for rail is growing. More people are choosing to travel by rail and demand has risen to its highest point since 1920, and it is set to keep on rising, with predictions that demand will more than double within the next 30 years. This increase means that more and more people are travelling to and from our stations, with cars often being the number one choice for getting to/from the station, either parked up or for drop off/pick up. All of this meaning that car parking and suitable infrastructure for drop off/pick up is becoming a major issue for our customers. -

Birtle (NNU) EDITORIAL It is perhaps fitting that, as the Cleveland Naturalist's Field Club enters its 111th year in 1991, we should be celebrating its long history of natural history recording through the re-establishment of the "Proceedings". In the early days of the club this publication formed the focus of information desemmination and was published continuously from 1881 until 1932. Despite the enormous changes in land use which have occurred in the last 60 years, and indeed the change in geographical area brought about by the fairly recent formation of Cleveland County, many of the old records published in the Proceedings still hold true and even those species which have disappeared or contracted in range are of value in providing useful base line data for modern day surveys. -

Site Description 1.1 The site comprises the Ebbsfleet United Football Ground currently known as the PHB Stadium in Stonebridge Road, Northfleet situated in an industrial/commercial location near the western edge of the Borough. 1.2 The ground has three stands and an open end at the western end of the ground (Swanscombe end) and there are other areas adjacent to the stands which are also uncovered and open to the elements. 1.3 The Town or main stand on the north side of the pitch, and which contains the changing rooms and offices, is the oldest stand at the ground dating from 1914 and is a partly wooden and partly corrugated iron sheeted structure. 1.4 At present the Stadium holds around 4,532 spectators of which 500 are seated. There is no restriction on ground capacity in planning terms. Average attendances at the ground are considerably lower than this - in the current season (2014/2015) this is around 960. -

The Borough Council granted planning permission in 2015 to a hybrid planning application under GR/2015/0081 for the redevelopment of the whole football ground that will meet Football League ground grading criteria and increase capacity from 4,500 (prior to current improvements) to 6,000. That part of the permission that was granted in full is currently being implemented, with the new main stand fronting Stonebridge Road nearing completion. The remainder of the permission was in outline form. Because the current proposal deviates from the original permission by including a 55 bed budget hotel at the Plough End, a separate full planning application has been necessary. -
