Years after your first visit here, you will

“remember when.” Maybe it will be when

you found your first Petoskey Stone on a

pristine beach, or a hidden gem in a

boutique shop. Perhaps you’ll recall a

personal best on a lakeside golf course, or

catching a million-dollar sunset. But while

your memories are made here, they won’t

stay here. You’ll be sharing them with others

for years to come.

[ ] 3 Our resort towns will KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF.

6 WATERFRONT COMMUNITIES TO DISCOVER. SMALL TOWN HOSPITALITY. BIG TIME FUN. AWAKEN TO PLACES YOU’VE DREAMED OF.

4 PETOSKEY is known for its beautiful setting along Little Traverse Bay and its charming Gaslight Shopping District. The elegant Victorian architecture found in its homes and buildings serves as a reminder of its long history as a summertime destination.

HARBOR SPRINGS is a place where time slows down, inviting you to enjoy everything from swimming to dining, shopping to biking. The picture-perfect downtown is great for relaxing and watching boats in the harbor. The famous Tunnel of Trees always delights.

BOYNE CITY wraps around Lake Charlevoix - voted second best lake in America by the readers of USA Today. There are no strip malls here. Just a great mix of independently owned shops and restaurants where you’re likely to be personally greeted by the owner. BAY HARBOR is a luxury waterfront community which includes an upscale shopping district, the award- winning Bay Harbor Golf Club and an amazing cultural center, the Great Lakes Center for the Arts. These amenities make it a world-class vacation destination.

ALANSON is nestled on the bank of the Crooked River, a major link in the Inland Waterway of , which is celebrated annually during Alanson’s Riverfest. Take a stroll on the boardwalk along the river, or relax at Sanctuary Island.

BAY VIEW is a century-old community that takes you back to a simpler, more refined era. It touts nearly 500 Victorian cottages, buildings and inns, and has earned designation as a National Historic Landmark. The Downtown Petoskey Trolley stops here in the summer. COMMUNITIES MAP

7 The favorite color here is DEEP BLUE.

THE ATMOSPHERE IS NAUTICAL, THE ATTITUDE EASYGOING. LAKE MICHIGAN, INLAND LAKES AND STREAMS AWAIT. WHATEVER WATER RECREATION YOU WANT, WE’VE GOT.

8 COME ON IN. THE WATER’S FINE. No matter which of our resort communities you visit, a crystal-blue lake or glistening stream will be nearby — and will make your stay even more unforgettable. Our lakes are perfect for swimming, jet skiing, paddle boarding or sailing; clear rivers are ideal for fishing or kayaking; and pristine beaches invite you to hunt Petoskey Stones, make sand castles, or simply catch some rays.

ESCAPE the hustle and bustle.

A VACATION AS FRESH AS ALL OUTDOORS. EXPLORE MOTHER NATURE’S PLAYGROUND. RECONNECT WITHOUT BEING PLUGGED IN. UNDISTURBED SCENERY AND SERENITY. Just when you think the sights can’t get any better, you come to the next turn on the trail or the next bend on the waterway.

The scenery here is so impressive, you have to see it to believe it. The International Dark

Sky Park is nationally renowned; the paved,

26-mile Little Traverse Wheelway offers hikers and cyclists amazing vistas; and the

Little Traverse Conservancy Nature Preserves showcase the beauty of northern Michigan’s protected wilderness.

11 We make having fun AN “IN” THING.

YOUR VACATION KEEPS GOING WHEN YOU GO INDOORS. A WELCOME BREAK FROM CHAIN STORES AND MALLS. ALL THAT MAKES OUR AREA SPECIAL. EXCEPT INSIDE.

12 WE’LL MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD INSIDE. When you want to trade the sun for a little

AC, or for those once-in-a-while times when the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ve got you covered. There’s lots to do indoors, too.

Our resort town boutiques and shops are just steps from the beach; Avalanche Bay™ is a mammoth indoor waterpark; and the spectacular Odawa Casino has a definite

Vegas vibe.

Perfect for those of GREAT TASTE.

MORE THAN 100 RESTAURANTS, FINE DINING TO CASUAL. WINERIES AND BREWERIES THAT BRING GOOD CHEER. WHATEVER YOUR TASTE, WE’VE GOT THE PLACE.

14 HERE’S SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT. Many who visit here think our restaurants, breweries and wineries are a highlight of their stay. Wine lovers will want to explore the Petoskey Wine Region featuring 12 wineries. Foodies will find menus full of traditional fare as well as innovative dishes.

Whatever you have a taste for, don’t leave without trying the whitefish. It’s fresh from the lake and an area favorite.

It’s like returning to ANOTHER ERA.

VICTORIAN CHARM AND ELEGANCE ALONG THE LAKE. SHOPS THAT ONCE GRACED COBBLESTONE STREETS. MUSEUMS DISPLAY THE AREA’S FASCINATING PAST. IT’S AS IF TIME STOOD STILL. As you walk through the elegant Victorian neighborhoods full of gingerbread homes, you can almost hear the horse-drawn buggies clattering down the streets. The

Bay View community alone has nearly 500 cottages, churches and inns on the National

Register of Historic Places. Museums chart our history from the Odawa Indians through the lumbering and ski industries. Tribute is also paid to Ernest Hemingway, who spent his early summers here.

17 You’ll find it easy to STAY AWHILE.

THERE ARE MORE THAN 2,800 ROOMS IN THE AREA. STAY IN TOWN, ON A GOLF COURSE OR A LAKEFRONT. CHOOSE A MODERN HOTEL, COUNTRY INN OR CONDO.
