DIAMBARS SOUTH AFRICA Author: D. Habchi OVERVIEW Update: 01/02/10 I. ABOUT DIAMBARS Diambars is a non-governmental organization, created in 2000 by renowned football players, viz., 1998 world champions Patrick Vieira and Bernard Lama, and Jimmy Adjovi-Boco (former captain of the Benin National Team), with the support of several other champions and soccer legends. Diambars uses football as a driving force for education and offers disadvantaged children in Africa, with a talent for playing football, the opportunity to acquire solid academic training. Diambars has created a sport-education model that provides: ― Top level sport-education institutes, which offer accommodation, education and physical training to children between the ages of 13 and 18; the students are expected to achieve high standards in football and education, ― Community-based social development programs, using the power of football as an effective tool to promote education at large. Through education and top level sports, the Diambars Institute aims to favor the integration and fair social development of young people who have chosen high-level sports as a means of self- achievement, without suffering by being uprooted from their home environment. Diambars also acts at the level of sustainable development in response to the lack of educational structures and the poor level of sport in Africa. The model was properly endorsed by UNESCO which recognized Diambars’ capacity to provide quality education and promote the social role of sport. Diambars is a Senegalese word for fighters, which is very fitting for a football academy concept also designed to address the plight of African football players who generally choose the world of football at the expense of education.

  • “Preocupado Mesmo Eu Estou Com O Le Pen”!
Chegaram a comparar Ronaldinho Gaúcho a Pelé.

  • History History of the FC Barcelona History History
History History of the FC Barcelona History History History of the FC Barcelona Early years (1899-1908) The ad in Los DeportesOn 22 October 1899 Joan Gamper placed an advert in Los Deportes declaring his wish to form a football club. A positive response resulted in a meeting at the Gimnasio Sole on November 29. Eleven players attended: Gualteri Wild, Lluís d'Ossó, Bartomeu Terradas, Otto Kunzle, Otto Maier, Enric Ducal, Pere Cabot, Josep Llobet, John Parsons, and William Parsons. As a result Foot-Ball Club Barcelona was born. Several other Spanish football clubs, most notably Real Madrid and Athletic Bilbao, also had British founders, and as a result they initially adopted English-style names. Joan Gamper used his past to form the team. Prior to forming this club, he played for Swiss clubs like FC Basel and FC Zurich. Even with forming the colors and crest of FC Barcelona, he looked back on his past clubs. He took Basel's colors and parts for the crest to form his new club. FC Barcelona quickly emerged as one of the leading clubs of both Catalonia and Spain as they competed in both the Campionat de Catalunya and the Copa del Rey. In 1901 they won their first trophy when they won the Copa Macaya and in 1902 they also played in the first Copa del Rey final, losing 2-1 to Club Vizcaya. With Gamper's seal (1908-1923) In 1911 Joan Gamper became club president for the first time. Gamper took over the presidency as the club was on the verge of folding.
