PSAT 8/9 • The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test for eight and ninth graders (PSAT 8/9) is the first in the 's “SAT Suite of Assessments” and is offered to eighth and ninth graders. The purpose of the PSAT 8/9 is to establish a starting point in terms of college and career readiness as students transition to high school.

PSAT/NMSQT • The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Assessment Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a standardized test administered by the College Board and cosponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) in the United States as a preparatory measure for the SAT. When you take the PSAT/NMSQT, you’re automatically screened for the National Merit® Scholarship Program, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. This test is formatted the same as the SAT, but shorter.All 9th, 10th, and 11th graders take the PSAT as it provides feedback and practice to prepare for the SAT.

SAT The SAT test is focused on the skills and knowledge at the heart of education. It measures:

o What you learn in high school o What you need to succeed in college

SAT Scores scale ranges from 200 to 800 for Evidence-Based Reading and Writing; 200 to 800 for Math; 200 to 800 on each of three dimensions for essay. Essay results are reported separately. The test is split up into three different sections. You’ll have 65 minutes to answer 52 reading questions, 35 minutes to answer 44 writing questions/tasks, 80 minutes on 58 math questions and 50 minutes for the essay.
