DEPARTMENT OF TRADE AND INDUSTRY DEPARTEMENT VAN HANDEL EN NYWERHEID No. 1044 12 November 2010 STANDARDS ACT, 2008 STANDARDS MATTERS In terms of the Standards Act, 2008 (Act No.8 of 2008), the Council of the South African Bureau of Standards has acted in regard to standards in the manner set out in the Schedules to this notice. All South African standards that were previously published by the South African Bureau of Standards with the prefix "SABS" have been redesignated as South African national standards and are now published by Standards South Africa (a division of SABS) with the prefix "SANS". A list of all existing South African national standards was published by Government Notice No. 1373 of 8 November 2002. In the list of SANS standards below, the equivalent SABS numbers, where applicable, are given below the new SANS numbers for the sake of convenience. Standards that were published with the "SABS" prefix are listed as such. SCHEDULE I: ISSUE OF NEW STANDARDS The standards mentioned have been issued in terms of section 16(3) ofthe Act.

Standard No. Title, scope and purport and year Reciprocating internal-combustion engine-driven alternating-current low power generating sets. Defines requirements. SANS 1007:2010 minimum performance and type tests for low power generating sets driven by reciprocating intemal-combustion engines for domestic, recreational and industrial applications.

SANS 1073:20101 Coal cleaning equipment - Performance evaluation. Describes the principles and methods for evaluating the performance of ISO 923:2000 equipment used for cleaning operations.

Civil engineering test methods - Part GR31: Determination of the maximum dry denSity and optimum moisture content of laboratory mixed cementitiously stabilized materials. Applies to cementitiously stabilized materials (crushed stone. gravel, SANS 300 I-GR31 :20 I 0 sand and soil) and describes methods to determine the relationship between moisture content and dry density of a cementitiously stabilized material compacted in a 152 mm diameter mould using a total effort of2 427 kNm per cubic metre. and to determine the maximum dry density and optimum moisture content from the relationship obtained.

Civil engineering test methods Part GRSO: Prepa.ra.tion. compaction and curing of specimens of laboratory mixed cemel1li/iously stabilized materials. Applies to cementitiously stabilized material (crushed stone, gravel, sand and soil) and SABS 3001-GR502010 describes a method to prepare. compact and cure cylindrical specimens in the laboratory suitable for strength and durability tests.

Civil engineering test methods Part GR51: Sampling. preparation. compaction and curing of field mixed freshly cementitiously stabilized materials including the determination ofthe maximum dry density and optimum moisture content. SANS 3001-GRSI:2010 Applies to cementitiously stabilized material (crushed stone. gravel, sand and soil) and describes a method for sampling freshly stabilized materials in the field. sample preparation, determining the maximum dry densily and the optimum moisture content of this material and the preparation of specimens for strength testing.

Civil engineering test methods - Part GRS2: Sampling and preparation ofcored specimens offield compacted, matured. cementitiously stabilized material. Applies to cementitiously stabilized material (crushed stone, gravel. sand and soil) and SANS 3001-GR52:2010 describes a method for sampling and preparing core specimens taken from matured stabilized pavement layers for strength testing.

Civil engineering tes/ methods - Part OR5 J: Determmation ofthe unconfined compressive strength ofcompacted and cured specimens ofcementitiously stabili=ed materials.
