Media Release Adam Giles Chief Minister of The Media Release Adam Giles Chief Minister of the Northern Territory People’s Choice BASSINTHEGRASS Music Festival line-up revealed 1 February 2016 Chief Minister Adam Giles today unveiled a five star Australian music line-up for the 14th annual People’s Choice BASSINTHEGRASS Music Festival. The 12 hour BASSINTHEGRASS Music Festival will be held at the Darwin Botanic Gardens Amphitheatre on Saturday 21 May 2016. Mr Giles said the 2016 People’s Choice BASSINTHEGRASS line-up includes in alphabetical order: Angus & Julia Stone, Bliss n Eso, Boy & Bear, Drapht, Hermitude, RÜFÜS, SAFIA, Tkay Maidza and Violent Soho, with more local acts to be announced in April. “Territorians of all ages look forward to BASSINTHEGRASS every year and it is a part of the great Territory lifestyle,” Mr Giles said. “BASSINTHEGRASS is proudly presented by the Northern Territory Government which supports the event to the tune of $460,000 each year. “This year’s line-up continues to deliver top class acts with something for everyone and every taste. “I would like to congratulate RÜFÜS who are currently riding a wave of success on the back of their second studio album which today stands at number one spot in Australia.” 2016 will mark a significant milestone with an extension of People’s Choice Credit Union’s 10-year sponsorship of BASSINTHEGRASS. People’s Choice Chief Executive Officer, Steve Laidlaw, said he was pleased that the credit union will continue its support of the much-loved festival for a further three years. “We’re proud to see People’s Choice BASSINTHEGRASS grow into such a highly-anticipated nationally acclaimed festival each year and we commend the Northern Territory Government for its continued investment into this fantastic event,” he said. Tickets to BASSINTHEGRASS will not only be more accessible to all Territorians but also cheaper in 2016. In lieu of receiving the traditional BASSINTHEGRASS souvenir hat ticket, patrons will have the ability to purchase and receive tickets online and in the comfort of their own homes. .

They’ll be joining Triple J Hottest 100 #1 Vance Joy and BASSINTHEGRASS returnees The Amity Affliction who are back by popular demand performing an evening time slot. Darwin rock band Bear Essence, Alice Springs hip hop act SkankMC and Top End DJ/MC UK have all been chosen as feature local acts for this year’s event.
