Day 1, Saturday

Arrival in Vienna, Austria Welcome to Vienna, the capital of Austria! After clearing customs you will be met by our local representative and transferred to your hotel. The balance of the day is free to begin exploring on your own. Tonight, meet your fellow travelers for a Welcome Dinner in a local restaurant. (D)

Day 2, Sunday Vienna

This sparkling cosmopolitan city on the Danube has captivated travelers for hundreds of years with its elegant shops, world-class museums, scenic parks and gardens, and its magnificent historic sites on the Ringstrasse, Vienna’s most famous boulevard. Your morning sightseeing tour includes the Hofburg, St. Stephen’s Cathedral and other vivid reminders of the city’s imperial past. The afternoon is at leisure or you may choose to take an optional tour to Schoenbrunn Palace. (B)

Day 3, Monday Vienna / Budapest

This morning you depart Vienna for Budapest. As you drive through the Austrian and Hungarian countryside, you will see some of the most beautiful scenery in Europe. Continue through the region of Transdanubia before arriving in sparkling Budapest. This evening unwind and enjoy dinner at your hotel. (B, D)

Day 4, Tuesday Budapest Considered the most sophisticated of Eastern European capitals, this lovely city has retained its special Hungarian flavor. This morning’s panoramic city tour features the Parliament, ­Royal Palace, Castle District, Fishermen’s Bastion, Matthias Church, Heroes Square and Gellert Hill. Your afternoon is at leisure to explore Budapest on your own. (B)

Day 5, Wednesday Budapest / Krakow

The drive from Hungary to takes you through the winding valleys and scenic countryside of Slovakia and to the great plains of Poland. Arriving in charming Krakow, you’ll check in to your hotel and later this evening, enjoy dinner. (B, D)

Day 6, Thursday Krakow

Krakow, formerly the capital of Poland, is a colossus of art and architecture; it is considered one of the world’s great historic cities. This morning, depart on a tour that includes Wawel Castle (former seat of Polish Kings), St. Mary’s Church, the Renaissance Cloth Hall and other city landmarks. This afternoon tour to Auschwitz and Birkenau, the infamous concentration camps from World War II which are on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. (B)

Day 7, Friday Krakow / Warsaw

Today, depart Krakow for a journey to Czestochowa for a tour of the famed holy shrine called the Yasna Gora Monastery where pilgrims come to see the blackened picture of St. Mary popularly called the “Black Madonna.” Continue to Warsaw where you will check into your hotel and later in the evening, enjoy dinner. Day 8, Saturday Warsaw

Warsaw has been the capital of Poland since 1596. Although most of the city was destroyed during World War II, amazing efforts have restored the town center, the Royal Palace and many other important landmarks. This morning, drive to the Old Town and the Warsaw Ghetto area, the Royal Route, and Lazienki Park with Chopin’s monument. Although your afternoon is at leisure, you may wish to consider an optional late afternoon Chopin concert. (B)

Day 9, Sunday Warsaw / Berlin

Departing Warsaw you drive via Poznan to Berlin. There is time to relax before enjoying dinner at your hotel. (B, D)

Day 10, Monday Berlin For nearly three decades, a wall divided the Eastern and Western sections of this city. In November 1989 the infamous wall fell, reuniting the city. This morning, your tour of “United Berlin” features the Reichstag, the German Parliament House; Schloss Charlottenburg; the Opera House; Schiller Theater and the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. (B)

Day 11, Tuesday Berlin / Dresden / Prague After breakfast you depart Berlin for Prague. The drive takes you via Dresden, a magnificent Baroque city where you will see the beautiful Zwinger Palace and Semper Opera House before continuing to Prague. Tonight, enjoy dinner in this beautiful city. (B, D)

Day 12, Wednesday Prague

Resting on the sloping banks of the Vltava River, Prague’s cobblestone streets, connected by arching and ancient stone bridges, blend with the cosmopolitan atmosphere of the modern city. Your panoramic tour of Prague includes Hradcany Castle, the Charles Bridge, the Old Quarter and the town center. The balance of the day is at leisure. (B)

Day 13, Thursday Departure

Transfer to the airport for your departure flight. (B)
