Hike details: We explore the arboretum with over 2500 trees and bushes. Also there are sections divided into the various continents. Meet: 8:00 AM at The Hub Coffee Shop Hike details: Mostly on path. No bush wacking. Fantastic views of Misty Cliffs. Hike details: We will walk through the wetlands and then up through Clovelly to ascend the “trappies.” We head up to a rock arch from which we can see the Old Mule Path leading to Muizenberg. We will descend via Weary Willy’s to Boyes Drive, then climb up the trappies to get back to Clovelly or walk along Mina Road. Well-behaved dogs are welcome if you have a TMNP permit. Rated strenuous because of a steep climb and distance, but not difficult. Minor scrambling. Olienhout (take exit 18 off N1) for carpooling (in front of the Gym) or 7:30 AM at Du Kloof Lodge (on the left, a few kms after exiting the Huguenot Tunnel ) Hike details: Track the river, bolder hopping from time to time and scramble (optional) to a beautiful pool and waterfall in the Limietberg Nature Reserve; starts near the eastern side of the Huguenot Tunnel - see http://hikingcapetown.co.za/hike-pages/one- dayhikes/krom-river-trail/. A Cape Nature permit is required R55 or Wild Card. Circular route with good views to enjoy. On the way back we will meander through lesser known areas of Silvermine. We go up and down with the cable car and from there we hike to maclears Beacon and back. There is some minor rock scrambling. The cost for pensioners is R100 in total. Members who don't want to do the whole hike can join us on the top and do a shorter version. Non pensioners are also welcome but the cost is R380 for them. Bring your Id. A long downhill from there to Chapman's Peak Drive. Magnificent views. We stop at the hotel for refreshments and call for an Uber back to the Nek. Ascend via Newlands Ravine, across to Devil's Peak and around on City side. Pass King's Blockhouse , on Contour Path back to forest . Rehydrate at Forries. Olienhout (take exit 18 off N1) for carpooling (in front of the Gym) or 7:30 AM at Paarl Rocks Picnic Site (Meulwater Botanical Garden) Hike details: Start with a couple of steep climbs (some chains) up the “pearls” of Paarl to enjoy 360° views which include Table Mountain some 60km to the west and the magnificent Du Toitskloof mountain range to the east. Hike through the Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve past dams and fynbos, finishing up with a braai at the picnic site. Return is via the Amphitheatre and Mimetes Valley. Hike details: Walk along Brakklookrant to the beacon, back and up Elsies Peak on the Glencairn side. Descend via Circular route. Consider a swim at the beach afterwards.
