Further courses may be added later in the year. We run a variety of courses and conferences for heads, governors, clergy and teaching staff. Some of these are specifically designed to meet the distinctive needs of Church of England schools. Others are suited to all schools, especially the courses on RE and Collective Worship in the primary sector. Schools that are part of the diocesan Service Level Agreement (SLA) receive a 50% discount on course fees and a 20% discount on conference attendance. We are able to customise many of our courses and conferences for delivery in individual schools or clusters. We also lead staff meetings, visit subject leaders, train governors, help with collective worship and offer advice in such areas as church school buildings and inspections. Please call us to discuss your needs. We look forward to welcoming you on a course this year. This is in response to HMI's criticism of the poor teaching and learning about Christianity in primary schools in particular. The project covers a number of key Christian concepts, such as Incarnation, Creation and Salvation which will be built on each year. Each diocesan school will be trained over the next 18 months and the launches in 2016 are free of charge, including the RE Today packs. If you are not already booked onto one of the training days, please contact Ruth Garman to find a suitable date ([email protected]). - 14 - [Type here] For school leaders and chairs of governors LM7a/16 Media Training To help school leaders learn how to handle the media following an incident at school Date/time Tuesday 13 September 2016: 9.30am – 12.30pm & 1pm – 4pm Venue Holywell Lodge, St Albans AL1 1HE Leader Arun Kataria Cost £75 am / £75 pm / £150 whole day Lunch will be included for all attendees Arun Kataria is the Communications Officer for the Diocese of St Albans and has over 20 years’ experience of dealing with press and media for the Church of England nationally and locally.
