Prof. Dr. Pornsilp Pholpunthin) Major Advisor …………………………………………Signature (Miss Koraon Wongkamhaeng) Candidate iv I hereby certify that this work has not been accepted in substance for any other degree, and is not being currently submitted in candidature for any degree. …………………………………………..Signature (Miss Koraon Wongkamhaeng) Candidate v ชื่อวิทยานพนธิ ์ ความหลากชนิดและวิวฒนาการชาตั พิ ันธุ์ทางสัณฐานวิทยาของแกมมาริด แอมฟิพอดในน่านน้ําไทย ผู้เขยนี นางสาวกรอร วงษ์กําแหง สาขาวิชา ชีววิทยา ปีการศึกษา 2555 บทคัดย่อ ศึกษาแกมมารดแอมฟิ ิพอดทะเลในน่านน้ําไทย พบแกมมาริดแอมฟิพอดทั้งหมด 33 ชนิด จาก 17 วงศ์ โดยแอมฟิพอด 8 ชนิดเป็นชนิดใหม่ของโลกได้แก่ Grandidierella halophilus, Grandidierella phetraensis, Cheiriphotis trifurcata, Ceradocus andamanensis, Maeropsis paphavasita, Parelasmopus siamensis, Rotomelita longipropoda และ Tethygeneia khanomensis แอมฟิพอด 8 ชนิดเป็นรายงานใหม่ในน่านน้ําไทยได้แก่ Amphilochus justi, Ampithoe africana, Ampithoe ramondi, Cymadusa pilipes, Paradexamine latifolia, Listriella longipalma, Waldeckia elephas และ Melita latiflagella และอีก 3 ชนดยิ ังไม่สามารถจําแนกชนิดได้ ได้แก่ Grandidierella sp.A, Chelicorophium sp.A และ Tiron sp.A ทําใหในป้ ัจจบุ ันมีรายงานของแอมฟิพอดในน่านน้ําไทย 63 ชนิด ทําการเปรียบเทียบวิวัฒนาการชาติพันธุ์ของการศึกษาก่อนหน้านี้กับการศึกษาครั้งนี้และ สร้างแผนภูมิแสดงวิวัฒนาการชาติพันธ์ของแอมฟิพอดในน่านน้ําไทย โดยใช้ลักษณะทั้งหมด 40 ลักษณะ พบว่ามีความสอดคล้องกับการจัดกลุ่มของแอมฟพอดในปิ ัจจุบันยกเว้นแอมฟิพอดวงศ์ Melitidae, Aoridae, Photidae และ Corophiidae แอมฟิพอดที่พบมีลักษณะทางนิเวศแตกต่างกัน แบ่งได้เป็นกลุ่มที่หากินตามหน้าดินและเหนือพื้นดิน (neritic) กลุ่มที่อยในดู่ นิ (nestler) กลุ่มที่สร้าง ท่อ (dominolous) และกลุ่มที่อาศัยอยู่กับสัตว์ชนิดอื่น (inquilinous) ทําการหาสายสัมพันธ์เชิง วิวัฒนาการของแอมฟิพอดในแต่ละสกุล vi Thesis Title Diversity and Morphological Phylogenetics of Marine gammarid amphipods in Thai Waters Author Miss Koraon Wongkamhaeng Major Program Biology Academic Year 2012 ABSTRACT The present study of marine gammaridean amphipod revealed 33 species in 17 families. Of these, 8 species were new to science namely Grandidierella halophilus, Grandidierella phetraensis, Cheiriphotis trifurcata, Ceradocus andamanensis, Maeropsis paphavasita, Parelasmopus siamensis, Rotomelita longipropoda and Tethygeneia khanomensis and 8 species were new record to Thai Waters namely Amphilochus justi, Ampithoe africana, Ampithoe ramondi, Cymadusa pilipes, Paradexamine latifolia, Listriella longipalma, Waldeckia elephas and Melita latiflagella and 3 species are unidentified namely Grandidierella sp.A, Chelicorophium sp.A and Tiron sp.A. Sixty three species are now known from Thai Waters. By considering to both previous phylogenetics and the results in this study, the phylogeny of the marine gammaridean Amphipoda in Thai Waters was created. Forty morphological characters were used in analyses. The phylogenetic tree shows the relationship between amphipod group which mostly follow the recent amphipod classification except the members Family Melitidae, Aoridae, Photidae and Corophiidae. The species occurred as a variety of ecological forms including neritic, nestler, domicolous and inquinous. When present in samples, platyischnopids may number in the 10’s to 100’s of individuals (pers. obs.). Platyischnopus mam Barnard & Drummond, 1979, was originally described from New South Wales. This new record extends this species distribution further north from temperate to tropical waters. Tomituka eumilli sp. nov. is the second species described in this Australian endemic genus. Material and methods The descriptions were generated from a DELTA database (Dallwitz 2005) to the Platyischnopidae genera and species of the world. All material is lodged in the Australian Museum, Sydney (AM). A set of colour plates, a list of standard abbreviations and detailed station data is available in Lowry & Myers (2009).     The distribution of benthic amphipod crustaceans in Indonesian seas Tri Arfianti1 and Mark John Costello2,3 1 Research Center for Biology, Indonesian Institute of Sciences, Cibinong, Jawa Barat, Indonesia 2 School of Environment, University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand 3 Faculty of Bioscience and Aquaculture, Nord University, Bodø, Norway ABSTRACT Amphipod crustaceans are an essential component of tropical marine biodiversity. However, their distribution and biogeography have not been analysed in one of the world's largest tropical countries nested in the Coral Triangle, Indonesia. We collected and identified amphipod crustaceans from eight sites in Indonesian waters and combined the results with data from 32 additional sites in the literature. We analysed the geographic distribution of 147 benthic amphipod crustaceans using cluster analysis and the `Bioregions Infomaps' neural network method of biogeographic discrimination. We found five groups of benthic amphipod crustaceans which show relationships with sampling methods, depth, and substrata. Neural network biogeographic analysis indicated there was only one biogeographic region that matched with the global amphipod regions and marine biogeographic realms defined for all marine taxa. There was no support for Wallaces or other lines being marine biogeographic boundaries in the region. Species richness was lower than expected considering the region is within the Coral Triangle. We hypothesise that this low richness might be due to the intense fish predation which may have limited

Cadien, LACSD 22July2004 (revised 15Dec2014) Preface The purpose of this review is to bring together information on all of the species reported to occur in the NEP fauna. It is not a straight path to the identification of your unknown animal. It is a resource guide to assist you in making the required identification in full knowledge of what the possibilities are. Never forget that there are other, as yet unreported species from the coverage area; some described, some new to science. The natural world is wonderfully diverse, and we have just scratched its surface. Introduction to the Phoxocephaloidea Members of the superfamily are exclusively burrowers. They are typically strongly rostrate, although loss of rostrum has occurred in the Urothoidae. Bodies are uniformly smooth, with some forms having limited cusping or spination of the pleosome. Legs typically are heavily endowed with robust setae or spines which assist in burrowing. Northeast Pacific marine faunas have large numbers of phoxocephaloids, both in shallow and deeper samples. A strong radiation of the superfamily also occurred in the southern hemisphere, particularly in Australia (J. L. Barnard and Drummond 1978), and in southwestern Atlantic waters. Four families in the superfamily not occurring in the NEP are found there. Some of the species, especially in Phoxocephalidae, occur into the intertidal zone, living in sand pockets between rocks, and to the mid-tidal level on sandy shores (Dexter 1974, Fincham 1971). While the diversity of phoxocephaloids is generally greatest in sandy sediments, a few groups (especially the harpiniids) are more common in siltier sediments at greater depths.
