    El Camino Carcaboso - Aldeanueva del Camino If you leave from the Plaza de España, you will exit Carcaboso through a gravel road. You need to ignore the Junta de Extremadura signs or else you will end up walking 1 extra kilometre. The Camino once again offers you this beautiful Extremadura landscape of cork oaks, until you reach Finca Dehesa Venta Quemada, where you have to take the detour towards Oliva de Plasencia. Those who wish to continue must walk always in the same direction until they find the Roman arch of Cáparra, unique in Spain. The old Roman road of the Vía de la Plata used to go past this arch, and it is nowadays the icon of this route. The path continues alternating tar roads and footpaths in the woods until you reach Aldeanueva del Camino. The Camino goes past the Roman bridge at Garganta Buitrera. You can also see the 15th-century churches of Nuestra Señora del Olmo and San Servando. El consejo del cartero “Aldeanueva del Camino is the town of the three lies as it is neither a village (aldea), nor new (nueva), nor with a single Camino. This town is in the heart of the Valle del Ambroz, also called “the garden of Extremadura”. Los beneméritos descubridores de estos interesantes documentos de nuestro pasado fueron don Julio Moriano, maestro nacional y también eficaz alcalde del pueblo de Her- nán Pérez, y don Luis Blanco, vecino de Plasencia. Ambos eran amigos y conocidos y el señor Moriano comunicó al señor Blanco la existencia de una piedra que servía de peldaño en el lavadero de la casa de los maestros del citado pueblo, en la cual se apre- ciaban diversos grabados. Visitado el lugar por el señor Blanco y vista la losa en cues- tión, la dibujó someramente y fue presentado el dibujo en el Museo Arqueológico Na- cional de Madrid al conservador de dicho Museo, don Martín Almagro Gorbea, a través del cual pudimos valorarla. Entonces el señor Blanco nos comunicó que le había hablado el señor Moriano de otras piedras grabadas semejantes que estaban a la intem- perie abandonadas en medio de un predio del citado término municipal llamado «La Dehesa».
