He started acting when he was at school and had to wear a wedding dress which made people laugh. • His mum is called Kathleen and his dad is called Peter. • David went to school in Surrey. David the Author • David was a famous comedian with his best friend Matt Lucas and had his own TV show. But David had always wanted to be an author. David wanted to write how it is ok to be different to other people. So in 2008 he published a book called ‘The Boy In The Dress’. It is about a boy who loves to play football and likes to wear dresses. This book sold over half a million copies. • David has now written 12 chapter books and 6 picture books. • His books are illustrated by Quentin Blake and Tony Ross. • Many of his books have been turned into films which David often appears in.
