Gethin is developing a broad planning and environmental law practice. His recent instructions include acting as junior counsel to Richard Wald, on behalf of Natural Resources Wales, in a successful 4 week inquiry concerning proposed byelaws to protect salmon and sea trout stocks in Wales. He was also instructed by the Government Legal Department in the judicial review challenge to the Heathrow third runway. He regularly advises on a diverse range of planning and environmental issues. For example, he has advised in relation to the Environmental Information Regulations, on the prospects of appealing a refusal of planning permission to develop a site within the Green Belt, and in relation to issues arising from the removal of permitted development rights by planning conditions.
